How can I delete my character / hero in Diablo 3? I have duplicate heroes

I would like to delete a few of my heroes because I seem to have duplicates by accident. I think it glitched opening night when I was trying to create my character and every request timed out... See screenshot below:

Where in the menus can I delete those duplicates? Or do I have to call technical support?

Haha, I had those made when I first got into the game as well.

I believe you can click 'Switch Hero' under the display of the character. This will display your list of characters like what you have on screen (just in a different location) and then you will see the delete button in the bottom right of the screen.

Is there a way to cleanup or repair savegames?

We are having issues with crashes in Fallout: New Vegas on the PS3. We tried our savegames on another PS3 and encountered the same problems. Also, starting a new game on our PlayStation or loading the savegame of a friend does not have any crashes.

The savegame of my girlfriend does crash very often, at most in open areas. With my own savegame crashes are not that frequent but they happen.

Since we are very advanced it would be very sad if we had to restart from scratch, also we are frightened that this issue could occur again with any other savegame.

We also tried to delete Fallout and reinstall it along with all updates and DLCs, this did not help.

So my question is:
Is there any way to repair or fix up the savegames of the PS3 Version using a Linux or Windows PC? (Linux would be preferred, but Windows is also available.)

Fallout: New Vegas is notoriously buggy. As the game wears on, the chances of you encountering one or more crashing bugs becomes increasingly likely. The Fallout Wikia has a long list of things that you can try, but here's just a few of the most relevant ones:

• Turning the pip-boy radio off and leaving it off seems to help quite a bit. Try it if nothing else seems to help.
• Crashes often when you near completion of the game. Waiting 73 hours can fix this occasionally by resetting all cells except the one you are in.
• Crashes or very severe slowdowns are common when the player character reaches the top of a hill or ridge and the landscape and sky beyond become visible. (no known workaround)
• Equipping the sniper rifle may cause the game to slow down severely and most likely freeze. On the PS3 equipping the sniper rifle can cause the weapon hotkeys to stop functioning, and the game to crash shortly thereafter on attempts to sleep, save, enter a new area, or just walk around the map for a minute or so.
• Sometimes changing the color of the interface can cause the game to crash or lock up. Keeping the interface Amber may help in avoiding this. (On both the Pip-Boy and Hud)

As far as I know, there's no save file editors for Windows or Linux that can fix the cause of crashes in New Vegas. In fact, editing your save outside the game is probably more likely to cause you crashes in the future.

Why is my game constantly crashing silently to desktop with no error message?

I have been searching for an answer to the crash-to-desktop (CTD) issue for days since I first began playing. All I come across are 10-page-long discussions that appear to consist only of new members joining the forum just so they can chime in with, "This is happening to me, too!" The only thing anyone ever has to offer is a link to the same site I've seen a dozen times with a list of "common things that may help", but none ever do.

The CTD is random. I hardly ever know when it's going to happen, although, sometimes, I get into a spot in the game where the crash is consistent at around the same spot.

Among some of the things I've tried:

• turned off AA
• using low setting presets
• playing windowed
• turning off v-sync (even though this is just spitting in the face of my 480GTX)
• 44.1 khz sound tweak

Many of these tweaks I tried only for peace of mind and would never play with them. For example, turning off AA or v-sync? No thanks, I'll take my smooth edges and jitter-free frame rates to another game.

There has to be something other than these compiled checklists of random tweaks that no one ever reports as 100% effective. Isn't there an official patch for this? Hasn't Bethesda addressed this? Hundreds upon hundreds of people are having this problem.

My specs -

Windows 7 32-bit 4 GB RAM Nvidia 480 GTX Intel i5 3.33 Ghz

Maybe your computer or graphics card is getting too hot. Check how long you can run Skyrim until it crashes.

Guild Wars - How To Lower Ping / Change Territory?

I've never played the original GW - but I thought I'd give it a try. When I connect and start playing, the game seems slow and unresponsive. If I bring up the performance window I can see that my ping > 400ms.

Can anyone tell me if there are European verse US servers like there are in WoW? I don't remember being asked, nor do I see a way to choose.

I've tried to Google it; but I'm having trouble avoiding results for 'Guild Wars 2'. I was able to find information about 'Territorys' which seems like what I want; but I can't figure out how to set it's value.

My NCSoft account was created in the United States; perhaps there is no way to change it?

The original Guild Wars doesn't have servers like you might be used to in WoW. Instead, servers are split into "districts" that you can change at will. If you look in the upper left-hand corner of your screen (by default UI configuration), you'll see which district you're in at a particular time. If you're already in a European district and you're getting a high ping, try switching to an International district.

I haven't played in Euro districts much, myself, but I seem to recall some people complaining that they weren't as responsive as American districts. Since you can change for free, instantaneously, whenever you're in a town or outpost, might as well give all of them a shot and see which one works best for you.

PC lags like hell when i alt-tab from starcraft 2

Question

After I upgraded the system to service pack 1 and installed lastest graphics driver and Starcraft 2 updates, my system start lagging when I alt + tab

I tested in both, window-mode and full-screen

In the window-mode it takes 5/10 minutes to occur.

You could try reverting to the previous video card driver. If the issue was in the driver upgrade, maybe the old version will work better. If that doesn't solve the problem, it's possible it could relate to SP1. But I don't know what that could be. Another option would be to re-install SC2. This may allow the config files to adapt to whatever new changes are in your system.

Age of Empires 3 Direct3d error

Question

I play AoE3 fine on my laptop, using my 1080p as my primary screen at home (at 1920x1080) however when I try to run it at school (again on my laptop), I get an error stating:

Initialization Failed
Direct3D initialization failed.  Possible causes:
Old or corrupted graphics driver.
Direct3D improperly installed.
Hardware acceleration disabled.
Starting the application with the workstation locked.Please check the log file for more information.

Anyone have any ideas?

I can run the game at just about max settings just fine with my 1080p screen....

I had the same problem with Portal 2 . How did I solve it ? Well I had to manually specify my resolution.
Try this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Users3\NewProfile3.xml

My Blizzard downloader is stuck

Question

So I decided to pre-download Diablo 3 for the release date. My downloader is at 100% and has been for some time. Any idea's on how to unstick it? I tried running the now-complete installer.exe that was downloaded and it's telling me I cannot due to it being in use by another program (likely the downloader).

I'm aware that closing the downloader and then reloading it to resume where it left off and finish whatever last second stuff it has to do is an option, but since its 'stuck' I'm worried something might go wrong.

Any ideas on a fix?

The Diablo 3 Launcher frequently gets stuck. It will either think it needs updating and never find anything or it will think it is done updating and still need more. Usually this has something to do with agent.exe not initializing properly.

To fix:

• Open your favorite flavor process manager (Crtl+Shift+Esc on Windows)
• Look for agent.exe (sometimes agent.exe*32)
• murder Agent86 agent.exe

Agent.exe will then restart itself and the Launcher will come to its senses.

How to fix League of Legends loading on dual screen?

Question

I have dual screen and sometimes when the game loads it sort of loads in the middle of both of them making it impossible to play.

I already have it set to windowed borderless and I´m not going to "turn off my monitor" since that defeats the whole purpose of having dual monitors.

Is there any way to fix this?¨

Since the launch of spectator mode this has been happening alot more and with more time for me to actually find solutions I´ve figured out the following.

1. Switching ingame settings around from fullscreen/windowed seem to reset it to the correct position
2. Moving around the taskbar resets it to the correct position
3. Going into the task manager and rightclicking and selecting maximize resets it to the correct position

PS3 restore backup restores no data

Question

My PS3's blu-ray drive died recently, so I performed a backup with the Backup Utility and sent my console in for repair.

About a week later I received a replacement PS3 from Sony and have attempted to restore using my backup. But, the backup utility has restored NO DATA!

I have tried logging in to PSN and attempting the restore again, but the end result is the same.

I'm aware that some data cannot be restored, especially since Sony has replaced my original PS3 with a refurbished one, but surely I should see something restored! What am I doing wrong?

Rather than try to work out what happened or how to fix the restore process, I just started fresh with my new PS3.

I can't stress how useful the PSN+ cloud service is, since without it you can pretty much redownload everything except your own saved games.

The PSN+ cloud service does not back up saved games from PS1, PS2 or minis though, so be sure and copy those from your old system to a USB device while you still can.

Spore freezes after playing for a while

I've been playing spore for a while now, and I found 2 peculiar phenomenons in the game:

1. Some graphics (such as the monolith, the construction of a colony and lava on planets) don't show up. By don't show up I mean I can see right through the planet if its covered in lava. That I can live with.
2. After x minutes of gameplay (could be anything, 10 minutes or 2 hours), the game gets frozen. The screen flickers with black, and the sound keeps on going.

I'm on a ASUS laptop, Intel i5 Core, RADEON HD 6370M 1GB graphics. Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

If you need any more details comment and I'll add them. I really don't know what to do. Thanks in advance.

This sounds like a graphics card issue. The missing textures might be caused by an out of date or buggy graphics card driver or an issue with overheating.

First, a few general things to check - is the game patched to the very latest version available? Also, if you're overclocking or otherwise have modified the system, turn that off.

The first step to debugging a graphics card driver issue is to try installing the latest drivers from the manufacturer's (in this case, ASUS) website. If you've tried this and it's not helping, try getting the latest drivers for your laptop's chipset from AMD. It's become less possible to do this in recent years; I can't get generic AMD drivers for my laptop's chipset because the laptop manufacturer forbids it, for instance.

The "freezing after x minutes" problem sounds like it could be a symptom of overheating. Is your laptop sitting on something soft, and perhaps blocking the airflow? Make sure that there's plenty of room for air to circulate. You can also place the laptop on a cooling rack (like what you'd use to cool cookies in the kitchen) to see if that doesn't help.

If you've had it for a while and/or it is in a dusty environment, you might want to consider cleaning the fans and exhaust vents with a bit of canned air. You can get canned air at office supply stores. Make sure you keep the can upright, otherwise there's a chance it will blow a super-cold propellant onto your computer, which can cause problems.

If it's still freezing, it might be a good idea to contact customer support for your laptop. They may know of 3D graphics issues with your particular model, although in my experience customer support tends to have a tough time diagnosing these sorts of issues, so consider it a last resort.

How do I fully uninstall the Diablo 3 beta for Mac?

The beta doesn't have an uninstaller, Blizzard's directions are (by their own admission) not thorough. Where are all of the D3 directories and preference files, and what is the most effective way to zap them?

Uninstalling applications in Mac OS X is very different than uninstalling in a Microsoft 1Windows environment because Mac OS X has nothing like the Windows Registry.

Most Mac OS X applications (anything that ends in .app), like Safari and iTunes, are bundles. The application icon you see in Finder (typically the Applications Folder) is usually a special folder itself, made to appear as a single double-clickable file. These "folders" contain all, or at least most, of the files needed to run the application, ie they are self-contained. This means that to uninstall these applications, you only have to drag them to the Trash. If you control-click (or right-click) on an Application icon, and you see "Show Package Contents", then it is a bundle.

For Diablo III Beta, you just delete the folder, because it does not create Package Content for you to delete.

But it does create fill .txt files that are not part of the installation. Here is a screenshot of my Mac with all files with "Diablo" in their name.

Aside from the Diablo III "Beta Setup" that is in my Download folder, there is "diablo3_beta_enus-driverinfo.txt" that is in /Users/Shared/Battle.Net/Client/Blizzard Launcher.1454/Support

The others files are inside the folder in the applications (or in the location you selected).

Also inside /Users/Shared, there are 2 folders called: Battle.net and Blizzard. They are created after you install any Blizzard Game like WoW or SC or Diablo. I don't recommend to your remove those folders, unless you are going to stop playing Blizzard games.

Almost forgot:

There is a file that saves your preferences called D3Prefs.txt the location is: /Application Support/Blizzard/Diablo III

Why Do MW2 Maps Keep Crashing?

So I am level 59 in MW2 multiplayer, and am planning on getting MW3 in the near future. I want to be able to prestige before then so I can get the bonuses listed in this answer. But whenever I play on any maps other than Highrise, Querry, and Afghan, My xbox crashes and says

The disk you have entered is unreadable. 
Please try wiping it with a cloth or cleaning it.

My disk is scratched, but I am afraid of fixing it because all of the reviews I have seen of people do this have been good like:This saved me $60!!!!!, to You suck!!!!!!!!!! You ruined my disc Obvisously it will take me forever to prestige if I can only play on 3 maps. Is there anyway around this? Also is there any ways to fix it for free that you have used and work?

Most nearby video stores ( now commonly Family Video or GameStop ) will do disc repairs but it depends how deep the scratches really are.

I would assume most replies of You Suck! You ruined my disc are that in actuality, a customer unable to come to the terms that their disc has become unrepairable prior to trying to clean it (and now has to bite the bullet of buying a new one or moving on).

I would try a local video rental store or GameStop (if applicable). Ultimately, if these options fail, buy a new disc or moving on to (in your case) Modern Warfare 3. I do not think it is worth it to buy a disc cleaning kit if you have already tried the first option. At some point your recovery efforts may become more expensive then purchasing a new, unscratched game.

Sims 2 gives blue screen of death while playing on windows 7

I've installed sims 2 on windows 7 and am playing with my cd present in the drive. Everything goes fine for a few minutes and I can start playing the tutorial. However, in the middle of the tutorial I get the blue screen of death and I need to restart my computer with the message that my graphics drivers stopped responding.

I'm having a built-in graphics card which shows up as "Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)". This is the latest driver for my card and I'm sure there are no malwares/viruses etc (I've also done a complete scan with ESET security 4 and cleaned the registry with ccleaner).

In dxdiag I see DirectX 11 so I don't think this version should be a problem.

Does anyone have any idea on how I can deal with this problem?

To whomsoever it may concern I was able to solve this problem. The very first problem was being able to run SIMS 2. I solved this by going to compatibility tab and checking "run as administrator" tab.

After running the crashes were probably due to SIMS 2 problems with windows 7. I found a patch online in the ea sims website (under cd/dvd section) which addressed this issue.

Why does the C-Gear flash red or green sometimes?

In Pokemon Black and White, why does the online section of the C-Gear glow red or green sometimes? This seems to happen at random, even though I have a Wi-Fi connection.

If you are referring to the inside of the online part of C-GEAR, it means:

• If it's red you have a poor connection.
• If it's blue you have a connection like the ones in gameshops.
• if it's green you have a good conection.

Poor performance during “Who Dares Wins”

I've been playing Fallout 3 GOTY edition (via Steam). So far the game has been relatively well-behaved - good performance, and only an occasional crash (like once every 3 hours, which is something I can live with).

However, in the recent hour or so it has became worse; in particular, every time I open a container the game freezes for around a second, and crashing becomes much more frequent, around once every 15 or 30 minutes.

I am a level 30 character working on the Broken Steel "Who Dares Wins" quest, which is the quest where

you assault the Adams Air Force base, fighting outdoors in the unique area opened by the quest, and inside the huge crawler.

And I think it might have been related. I also have a bunch of stuff in my inventory, but not more than what I've been carrying throughout the rest of game (though I do carry more weapons and less armor than what I used to).

Is this a known issue? Any idea how to solve this problem?

System is Windows 7 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, Core 2 Duo.

How Can I Force AA in GTA IV?

I'm a newbie of GTA IV.

My GTA IV version is 1.0.7.0.

But there is no AA setting.

The image looks fine but if you save the image and see it bigger size, you can see clear aliasing. it looks very dirty.

so i'm trying to accept AA by NVIDIA control panel(I'm using GTX560ti), but it's not effect.

How can I accept AA?

AFAIK, the driver software for both Nvidia and AMD/ATI can't force AA in GTA IV due to how GTA IV's graphics engine was made (or rather, how it was ported to the PC from the console platform).

You can however, force SMAA on it by using injectSMAA:

Description:

• adds "Subpixel Morphological Antialiasing" to an application
• is based on "injectFXAA" (written by "some dude")
• is supposed to work only with directx 9, directx 10, directx 11, x86 applications
• may be incompatible with any other form of antialiasing
• may be incompatible with overlays (Steam Overlay, MSI Afterburner, Fraps, ...)

SMAA is a very efficient GPU-based MLAA implementation, capable of handling subpixel features seamlessly, and featuring an advanced pattern detection & handling mechanism.

My 3D Games crashing in these scenarios

I have a situation here which I am unable to solve.

I bought a PC last year March, here are my specs:

1. Intel Core i3 550 @ 3GHz
2. 4 GB RAM @400 MHz
3. XFX GeForce 9500 GT graphics card 1GB @550MHz
4. 500 GB HDD

Lately as soon as I load my save game of Skyrim, it crashes. I have been playing Skyrim since I joined this site.

Crashes as in the entire scene gets red lines. I can not ALT + TAB back or even CTRL + ALT + DEL either.

My only recourse is a hard reset via the power button. Can not take a screen shot either.

I have the latest Forceware 296.10 drivers also. This has been happening since the last 2 weeks. I always use Driver Sweeper to clean my old drivers, since that is what XFXForce recommends before installing new drivers.

I installed MSI Afterburner lately to see my GPU temperature. My GPU is default, never over-clocked it. In MSI's Afterburner, I can not adjust fan speed. It is greyed out. Also in settings there is no fan tab.

With normal Internet browsing it stays at 51 C. Ran Memtest86 over night with level 11. Took about 13 hours, but no errors in my RAM.

I even re-installed my OS, with just the 296 drivers. The fan for the GPU does come on. I can play Diablo 2. I can not get past Warcraft 3's menu selection.

There WAS some dust in my machine, but I always try and keep everything clean, since in my home town dust is an issue. Always keep cool my entire PC cabinet.

My friend came with his functioning graphics card, we bought our PCs at the same time with exact same specifications. His card did not work either. Same problem with the scene freezing with red lines.

I did do my research before posting here. That is how I was able to learn about MSI Afterburner, Driver Sweeper, SpeedFan etc. I followed posts on Tom's Hardware too regarding people that had similar problems. One person suggested and was followed by worked as well the suggestion to "Bake the card in an oven".

Since I bought it, played Diablo 2 for months, Starcraft 2 campaign for months and Skyrim recently for months. Bought ME3 also.

I am at my wits end. I do not know what else to do. I can go out and buy a card, but my friend's card did not work either.

I can use the machine for Eclipse or VS2010 development just fine. Just not with 3D gaming.

Can some experienced gamer(s) shed some light on this scenario? Is it a 3D graphics card problem? Will a brand new card work? What else can I try to pin point the problem?

I finally fixed my issue.

The problem was with my graphics card. I cross posted on SU and did replace my power supply. That really needed to be done after I started digging.

Here in India, the Indian brand PSU's are the main culprit in high/mid end gaming systems.

Changing the PSU did not help, except my computer was booting a bit faster.

Next on my list was the GPU. I installed a GTX series 550 Ti card from Nvidia. And that did the trick.

If it had failed to solve my problem, I was next going to change my motherboard.

Why do my sound settings not save upon exit in Minecraft?

Question

When I launch Minecraft, I have to go into the sounds menu and change the music volume level to 0. When I close Minecraft and reopen it, the sound level will be back at 100.

I am running 1.2.3 (I think). I am running several mods, but all of them seem to be functioning properly. I usually play Minecraft with music from my personal music library playing, but I am still able to hear creepers, and other in game sounds.

Is there a way to permanently set the in-game music in Minecraft to 0, or is this some kind of bug?

Copy and paste the following Path into the Start menu Search bar (Windows 7) or into Windows Explorer, if you are using XP (Win Key + R => type in the word "explorer" (no quotes) => Enter):

%appdata%\.minecraft

Now open options.txt and edit it to your liking. The area for music should read:

music:0.0

If the above Path variable does not work look for this (Windows 7):

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft

When you're finished, save the file and set it to read-only, so Minecraft wont change it again. Right-click options.txt => Properties => Click the Read-only raido button under attributes

Cache of others skins?

Question

I've been wondering.

Most games with custom content cache the custom content from others somewhere. Is there a way to find the custom skins of others somewhere in the Minecraft folder after you played online with others?

Basically, when I see a cool skin someone I'm playing with is wearing, I would sometimes like to "steal" it.

How do I play fullscreen?

Question

When applying the fullscreen setting, the game does not go fullscreen. It will go to the specified resolution, but won't be fullscreen; it'll still be a window. I can change back to windowed mode and that works as a window, but fullscreen is not working after the latest patch.

How can I make this game fullscreen?

It turns out having TeamViewer enabled would cause this. Killing the TeamViewer process resolved this issue.
