How do I get the Walkies achievement?

Question

Jetpack joyride has a new Achievement based on Flash. How can I get Walkies? The description says:

Take Flash on a 10KM Walk

Does this mean I have to travel 10KM in a single run with Flash?

Asked by Ben Brocka

Answer

First you have to own Flash; he's the robot Dog that costs 8,500 coins in the Gadgets menu. The achievement is only possible with Flash equipped to a Gadget slot.

All you have to do is travel 10,000 meters cumulative with Flash equipped. You don't have to reach 10,000 meters in one run, multiple runs still count toward the total. After you've gained 10km in travel with Flash you'll be awarded the achievement upon your death.

There's a counter in My Profile under Gadgets that lists "Total Distance run by dog"; this is the count that matters. The counter appears to go up whenever Flash runs, not Barry. I'm not sure if it goes up when Flash jumps yet.

How do I beat Insane AI in 5 minutes?

Question

Here I asked how to beat AI in 5 minutes on medium level.

I played as Terran. The key was to start barracks building close to opponent base (and use small map). I was successful on Medium, then on Hard...but on Very Hard my best time with Terrans was 5m2s... but usually it takes 5m30s, 6m15s... I couldn't find the quicker way... So I switched to Protoss...

Finally, I've beaten the A.I. in 4m40s, and now I'm itching to beat the A.I. on Insane level. I did that with a lot of effort on Very Hard, but I'm afraid that my strategy won't work for Insane.

I will probably try to cannon rush, but I'm not sure if it will help.

Please advise: what race, what strategies?

I haven't tried it myself yet, and I don't see any good strategy.

On Very Hard with Protoss against Terran I played in such way:

In the very beginning build new Probe - it will go to build a Pylon close to enemies base; build Pylon, Gateway, Gateway, Gateway - 3 gateways. Why? In order to get enough zealots quicker. After building 3rd gateway my probe is going to disturb their SCVs. It is not actually too successful, but it is boring to sit and wait for 1st zealot. When 1st gateway is completed you should have enough money for 1st zealot. it should go to opponent base and run close to Barrack/SCVs. While there are no marines - kill SCVs (don't get them to surround you. when marine appears - kill him with zealot. Keep producing zealots, when you reach supply limit - send your probes to die - you will get 1 more zealot. If you have money you can build 1 more pylon and train more zealots, but 6 was enough for me (2Pylons=>18 food - 6 probes=12/2 = 6 zealots).

I found this tactic almost from 10 attempts, and final time was 4m40s.

I did that on... the 1st map in the list (please let me know what it's named, I don't remember that).

I don't think that will work on Insane. Probably I need to build 2 gateways and get 3 probes with myself to push AI...?

P.S. BTW, such practices help to improve your micro: handling those zealots/probes against SCVs/marines :)

Asked by Budda

Answer

I've beat Terran with Protoss using photon rush.

  1. Build probes constantly, 1st build probe will go to opponent, all others - go to minerals; 10-12 actually should be enough.
  2. Build the 1st pylon outside of the opponent's start location - if you build it in the opponent base (after the choke) he will attack the pylon with large amount of SCVs. The Pylon should be built as close to the opponent base as possible.
  3. Build 1 forge.
  4. Build 2 cannons close to the opponent base - they will shoot up the ramp soon.
  5. When these cannons are almost complete, send a probe to the opponent's base and build 1 cannon (you 1st pylon should give enough space for 1-2 cannons).
  6. Opponent will try to attack your building cannon, but your first 2 cannons should be able to protect them. Keep you probe from being killed by SCVs/marines.
  7. Build new pylon close to new cannon, once the new pylon is done, build 1-2 additional cannons not to far away from the 3rd cannon; it should be able to protect the new building. The new cannons should also be able to attack the command center.

After the last cannons been build they will start shooting the command center. The AI will give up quickly.

I did the above and finished sometime around 4:30.

Who fights with pants?

Question

Diablo III has two achievements that involve fighting bosses in nothing but your skivvies: Naked Lust and The Hero's New Clothes.

enter image description here

Obviously, clothes are kinda important.

Which class is best at slaying monsters in the nude? If you're seeking to complete this achievement in multiplayer, does everyone have to strip down, or just you?

And perhaps most importantly, do weapons count, or are we going to be punching Diablo to death?

Asked by Raven Dreamer

Answer

I did the Cydaea achievement solo on a Demon hunter, and it is about as annoying as you'd imagine. First off, you only need to take off your gear at the end (obviously). Here's how I did it:

-Take a decently geared DPS companion. Mine was at ~500 DPS.

-Fight like normal, get her down really low (<10k). Then retreat to the other side of the map.

-Start taking off equipment. (Do NOT drop it on the ground.) This is annoying because you have to go into your inventory and you're pretty much blind the entire time, hence the retreating part. If Cydaea enters an add phase (lots of spiders spawning and Cydaea vanishes) don't stand still. You need to move and kill them ASAP.

-Keep in mind ANYTHING will oneshot you when you're naked. Smoke Screen really helped me.

-Once you're naked and there are no spiders alive, move your companion within range of Cydaea and hope they target her. She will spawn a small amount of adds even outside the adds phase, and she likes to retreat behind them, causing your follower to target them instead.

-If Cydaea isn't dead before the next add phase (about ~30 sec between them), put weapon back on and kill the adds while avoiding them. If you don't do this, the adds will pile up fast. When the coast is clear, unequip weapon and move back to Claudia Black.

-Rinse repeat

It took me about 15 tries, mainly because spiders can spawn right under you and oneshot you in a heartbeat when you're naked (Keep moving!). It might be easier in coop, with 1 player handling adds/optional ressing, and the other hurting her, but you won't have the follower and your naked DPS is roughly...10.

The other bosses? I haven't tried them yet, but they might actually be easier, because there's no adds, though having to dodge stuff (Belial...) while taking off your gear is probably the trickiest part.

Can I earn achievements in the Classes category while playing as another class?

Question

Achievements such as the Monk's "Like Water" (Dodge 15 attacks in a row) don't rely on a class-specific skill. Does this mean that they can be earned with any class?

Asked by Brysonic

Answer

You must be playing the class in question to receive their achievements, even if they have general triggers. (Another example is the Demon Hunter's Longshot, requiring you to kill 100 monsters from over 45 yards away - if you're not a Demon Hunter, you can't get it, even if you're a Wizard routinely killing things from offscreen.)

Big Trouble in a Talking Barrel?

Question

So i've been sitting here for like 10 minutes watching this old codger dance around in a barrel waiting to unlock this achievement because I am an achievement junkie.

Does anyone have this achievement know how many different sayings i have to go through? Or if it unlocks automatically or do i have to break him out eventually?

Asked by Kirkalirk

Answer

As you can see here you have to stay near the barrel until he says all the 6 lines of text and then break the barrel.

You can track how many lines he said on your achievement list.

How to get the remaining follower conversations?

Question

I've just finished Diablo III and try to get the Listen to all <...> conversations for the followers.

However, no matter if I talk to them while they are hired or not, some options are not available:

  • (Templar) Adria's Betrayal
  • (Scoundrel) A Dark Outlook
  • (Enchantress) Eirena's Journey
  • (Enchantress) A Lost Friend

Did I miss something? Do I need to finish a higher difficulty to get these?

Asked by ThiefMaster

Answer

TP to town at the very beginning of Act 4 Quest 1 (Fall of the High Heavens) for "A Lost Friend", "A Dark Outlook", and "Adria's Betrayal"

"A Lost Friend" "A Dark Outlook" "Adria's Betrayal"

The Enchantress's "Eirena's Journey" is available for most of Act 2 (from the very beginning), but Act 2 Quest 2 (The Road to Alcarnus) will spawn you right next to her:

"Eirena's Journey"

Conversation availability does not change between difficulties, but some conversations are only available for brief periods (esp. with the jeweler and blacksmith). You can load these levels and get them immediately, though. For what it's worth, those A4Q1 conversations above were the most elusive of the lot.

How do I complete the Meditation achievement?

Question

The class-specific Monk achievement Meditation says that I need to "Use Mantra skills to grant a beneficial effect to an ally 200 times."

I use mantras constantly and renew them as soon as they wear off, but I never get any progress towards this achievement. I've tried every mantra I have. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Do followers and other following NPCs not count as allies? Are my Mantra skills granting no beneficial effect to my allies? Is there a specific mantra(s) that I need to be using to get progress on this one? Is this multiplayer-only?

Asked by skovacs1

Answer

By "ally" it means another player, not NPCs.

Is there any achievement that gives out rewards?

Question

In World of Warcraft there are various achievements that give out a reward other than the Achievement Points, be it a title, a pet, or a mount. Is there something similar in Diablo III?

I know that pets and mounts won't be available in Sanctuary, but I was thinking about something like a worthless item related to the lore, or a physical modification that has no impact on stats. I could even be happy with a stone that says "Hi!" with Deckard Cain's voice every time it's clicked!

Asked by Kappei

Answer

Yes, there are achievements that reward you with shapes, patterns, sigils and accents (images that appears on your banner).

Here is an example: The Art of Conversation achievement.

Or this one: Slice of Life achievement.

Is it possible to get the “Catch” achievement on PC?

Question

While looking around for information on other achievements, I've found this one that doesn't show up in the Steam achievements list. Thinking that it was a "secret" achievement, I've tried to do as said in the comments,

throwing a remote batarang to Azrael.

He caught it, but no achievement popped up. Am I missing something? Is "Catch" a Xbox-only achievement?

Looking at the Steam achievement list, it seems indeed the PC version of the game doesn't have the Catch achievement or equivalent.

How do I defeat an enemy with a parry?

Question

I'm stuck on one last trophy for Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet:

Take that, Villain!
Defeated an enemy with a parry.

I've looked up a couple guides and they seem to say the same thing:

This trophy will pop up during natural gaming. Block an enemy’s attack with [circle] and then hit [square] immediately after to execute a parry.

Well, it certainly didn't come with natural gameplay and I haven't had any problems getting the rest of the trophies. But this one still eludes me. No matter what I try, I can't seem to get this to work. I hold [circle] to block and then immediately hit [square], the guy dies, and nothing happens.

Can anyone shed some light or be more specific on what needs to happen? Obviously I'm doing something wrong and can't figure out what it is. I figure since it says "Defeated" they have to die from the hit, so I tried weakening the enemy first, then blocking and attacking so they die instantly.

Are there any specific enemies that are easier to do this with, on specific levels? I've been trying this for hours along with finishing heroic feats and now I've pretty much finished everything else and am still left with this.

Asked by animuson

Answer

Parrying requires you to block just as the attack hits, not before it.

Rather than holding O, try pressing O just as the enemy's attack is about to hit, then when the attack is blocked, attack with Square

Are Shadowrun stats saved on a server?

Question

I just bought Shadowrun from Games for Windows, and I've had this game for Xbox 360 for a long time now.

I'm trying to get the achievement for playing 100 matches as each class and I was wondering if I had to play all 100 matches again on the PC or if a server keeps track of my previous amount of playtime from when I played it on the Xbox 360?

Shadowrun is one of the few games where PC and Xbox 360 user can play cross-platform, so I can hope the stats transfer between the two.

Asked by TrickyM66

Answer

Multiple sources state that "Shadowrun lacks a stat-tracking system." So No, they are not saved anywhere.

Will the DLC for Mortal Kombat 2011 affect achievement completion?

Question

There are several achievements in the newest Mortal Kombat game that require you to do something with every single character. These include:

  • Arcade Champion - complete arcade mode with all fighters
  • e-X-cellent! - land every playable fighter's X-Ray attack
  • Finish What You Start! - perform a Fatality with all playable fighters
  • My Kung Fu Is Stronger - gain mastery of all fighters
  • The Grappler - perform every fighter's forwards and backwards throws
  • Ultimate Humiliation - perform every fighter's hidden finishing move

Will downloading the extra characters offered through the DLC affect the requirements for these achievements if you have not received them yet?

For example, if I have completed Arcade Mode with everyone except Sub-Zero, without the DLC, once I finish with arcade mode with Sub-Zero, I would normally receive "Arcade Champion."

Let's say I download Skarlet before I finish Arcade Mode with Sub-Zero. Will I only be awarded "Arcade Champion" once I have finished arcade mode with both characters?

Will this same scenario apply to the other achievements?

Asked by FAE

Answer

The short answer is that OliverBM's assumption seems to be correct and DLC characters are not counted towards these milestone achievements. I would've preferred more authoritative sources, but posted user experiences was the best I could do for most of them.

According to IGN, the Arcade Champion achievement does not include the DLC characters, but does include the unlockable characters:

Tag Ladder does count: You get this achievement when you beat the standard or tag ladder with each of the non-DLC 27 characters (28 on the PS3 version). You can use as many continues as you wish, and you can do this on any difficulty level.

According to this answer, Finish What You Start! does not include DLC characters, but note from reading elsewhere that it does include the unlockable characters:

And no, DLC characters dont count towards the trophy.

According to this thread on xbox360achievements.org, My Kung Fu Is Stronger does not include the DLC characters, but does include the unlockable characters:

-#112, just to be absolutely clear, even if I have the DLC characters, it only counts towards the originals?

-that is correct

According to this post, e-X-cellent!, The Grappler, and Ultimate Humiliation do not include the DLC characters**, but from reading elsewhere do include the unlockable characters:

It seems that DLC characters are not needed for trophies, I got milestone trophies (Finish What You Start !, Ultimate Humiliation, The Grappler, e-X-cellent...) without playing with Rain, Kenshi, Skarlet and Freddy.

What is a Lagrangian point, and how can I get a bird into one?

Question

After looking up what Lagrangian point meant, I'm pretty sure I'm more confused about what it is. It seems to mean that it's some sort of point in between 2 planets or objects in spaces where a third object would maintain an orbit. Then again, I'm no astronomer.

More importantly, how and on which level of Angry Birds: Space can I get a bird into a Lagrangian point? I ask all this because there is a Game Center achievement called Centripetal Force: Shoot a bird into a lagrangian point, which I'm trying to get.

Asked by Doozer Blake

Answer

A Lagrangian point is a point between two large bodies where if you place a small body with negligible influence on the two larger bodies (such as, say, a satellite between the Sun and the Earth), the gravitational force exerted by the two large bodies is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction such that they cancel each other out, thus enabling the small object to stay in equilibrium in that position in space relative to the bigger object.

Now, that's for real life - in Angry Birds Space, gravitation works somewhat differently - unlike in real life where the gravitational field created by masses reaches infinity, gravity wells in Angry Birds Space only covers a certain area - an area that is conveniently marked out for you with a blue circle. As mentioned above, a Lagrangian point is a point between two larger bodies. In game, this translates to looking out for an area where two different gravity wells intersect.

The map which is most convenient to do this is 2-19, where you are given three large green birds to fire at three planets with significant amount overlapping gravity well to work with. Shoot the bird at the top of the building on the first planet, and the bird should slow down enough to hit the overlapping region between the two planets and hopefully stop there.

NB: I'm playing this on the Android version of Angry Birds Space, so there's no achievements, and thus no way to actually test if this actually will give you the achievement, other than that it fits your description

Update

The latest update of Angry Birds Space fixes a bug and makes this achievement not only possible, but incredibly easy. A bird now only needs to pass through the intersection of two gravity fields to gain the achievement.

In Red Dead Redemption, can you still get the Spurred to Victory achievement if your horse dies?

Question

The description says that I have to complete 20 story missions without switching to a new horse at a hitching post. If my horse dies, and I wait for a respawn, will it be considered a "new" horse? Or can I still get the achievement?

Asked by Brandon

Answer

Unfortunately it doesn't count. You MUST play the story missions with the SAME horse. In the other hand, you must do this with STORY only missions. If by some mean you end the game you will have to start it again to get this trophy. (Replaying story missions doesn't count). This makes this trophy the only one you can miss.

By the way, there are a total of 57 story missions.

If I play Fallout 3 via Steam, will I still be able to obtain Live achievements?

Question

Since Steam usually has it's own achievements system and there is no mention of it on the page of the game, is it still possible to obtain Live achievements, or are they not availble in the steam version?

If you still can get them, how do you enable it to get them?

Asked by alexanderpas

Answer

My best guess would be that you can still get Live achievements, that is, if you're logged in to GFWL (Games for Windows Live).

It depends what version of Fallout 3 you have (i.e. if it's the Game of the Year edition). Some people on Steam's forums are reporting that they haven't been asked to log in to GFWL.
