What determines if a lizard will increase my maximum stamina?

Sometimes when I eat a lizard it will increase my stamina, and other times it does not.

What determines whether or not eating a lizard will increase my stamina?

Answer

Yes, it has to be a lizard with a shining white tail.
The normal (black) lizards will have no effect on your stamina.

In a similar manner, eating fruit from trees will increase health.

Hunting lizards and fruit is a understandably a common pursuit in the game, see here for help if you're looking for it.

The bow is recommended for both pastimes.

I've already noticed it's possible to increase my maximum stamina, but is it also possible to increase my maximum health, and if so, how?

You sure can! You can do so by finding a fruit tree! There are 33 of them in all, and if you find them all, your health bar will span the screen!

They must be killed in order, you cannot sequence break.

This video shows the entrance to the Shrine or Worship open in Shadow of the Colossus. How exactly do I achieve this?

I could be wrong, but I believe the open gate is just in the demo. The video you mention says that the version of the game that s/he is showing is the demo from the Official Playstation Magazine demo disk.

In the normal game, you can reach the secret garden he mentions, but I don't know that you can open the gate to the Shrine of Worship.

Looking through the options, I saw "full pixel mode" as something you can enable/disable. What exactly does it do?

There's also a "full pixel" mode that liberates the PS3 version from the borders of the original game, giving the game much more real estate on-screen - boosted all the more by the move from the original's 4:3 aspect ratio to the full 16:9 widescreen experience.

It also seems to eliminate overscan, giving the sharpest possible picture on an HDTV.

Now when the "ICO+Shadow of Colossus Collection" is out for the PS3, I was wondering that are these games some how related to each other? Is it better to play ICO first or vice versa?

EDIT: After getting an answer I searched again and found out that Wikipedia has also a small section how these games are connected to each other.

Yes, they are. Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to ICO, set in the same world. In addition, Shadow of the Colossus explains some of the story from ICO. So I would recommend playing Shadow of Colossus before starting ICO.

does anybody know when the upcoming remake of Ico and Shadow of The Colossus is going to be released?

I have heard many conflicting stories about when, the nearest I could find to a definitive timing was in this Playstation blog article.

Anyone have any more info?

This article on Pinoytutorial and this one from GameRant say the game's been pushed back to the holiday season of 2011. Can't confirm how true this is, but it's the most recent news I could find regarding a release date for the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection.
