Where can I find Officer Dellk?

Question

On the Citadel, on the Citadel Embassies level, there is a listing on the map for an Officer Dellk. I've looked around the area marked 4 (Embassy Offices), and the entire level and haven't found anyone else to interact with by this name. Is the character there to talk to? What species are they? Any advice on where to find them would be helpful.

Officer Dellk, where are you?

Asked by Doozer Blake

Answer

Officer Dellk is the Turian standing in front of the console in a little back area past Udina's office. You can see him here in this video:

You may run into a problem where he doesn't show up at first if you've just gotten the intel from the Specter office. I ran into this issue at first where he wasn't where I was expected. I was able to solve this problem by going back to the Normandy and then returning to the spot on the map, and fortunately he had appeared. Hopefully that will work for you too.

How are upgrades in equipment packs distributed?

Question

My brother and I were trying to figure this out today. Maybe someone knows.

In Mass Effect 3 multi-player, when you get equipment packs, is there any algorithm governing what sorts of weapons/weapon upgrades you get? My brother was pretty sure it tends to favor weapons which you use.

I seem to see the opposite though. Weapons which I use, I rarely ever get upgrades for, and weapons I never use, I seem to constantly get upgrades for.

Is there any weighting in those packs? Or are they completely random and I'm just that unlucky?

Asked by eidylon

Answer

It doesn't favor anything, it's random, with (i think) a modifier based what you already achieved: if you still have a lot of uncommon weapons to unlock/level up to X, you'd better stick with the veteran packs. Why? Because the game will favor the weapons/mods you still didn't complete. This will result in spectre packs dropping uncommon weapons, thus wasting your credits. The strategy i used is this:

  • you start leveling a char till level 16-17, when you're ready to do gold missions
  • from level 1-16 you buy (vetearan) packs normally, completing your uncommon equipement
  • wen you reach level 16 or 17, you can either move to gold and save all the money for when you promote your character, or just move onto another char till level 16 again
  • when you promote your char(s) you'll have enough money to buy tons of veteran packs and level up your low-levels with the characters dropped (a neo promoted class will result in gaining up to 10 levels just buying packs, if you're lucky enough)

Do this untill you complete your uncommon armory, then move onto the spectre packs. This will result in fast N7-leveling, a lot of weapons and characters and most of all, no xp-money waste!

PS: i forgot to add that you can track all your equipement progress using Bioware's social website. This is exactly my profile and you can see my progress too! It's a useful tool to keep an eye on your drops! Hope my post helped

How to beat harvesters

Question

I'm having trouble beating the harvesters, they'll often fly off before I can beat them. I've found using the sniper rifle works well but it fires too slowly and runs out of ammunition quickly, is there any more sustainable method of beating them?

I am an Infiltrator playing on normal difficulty.

Asked by Ronan Forman

Answer

Harvesters have Armor style health so heavy anti-armor weapons such as sniper rifles are preferred(If you're feeling brave, heavy pistols or really brave, shotguns). The Anti-Material rifles (Black Widow, Widow, or Javelin) should also be your weapon of choice as they penetrate armor thus eating it faster.

Your ammo choices should also be anti-armor as well, Incinerary and Armor Piercing rounds do bonus damage to armor. Warp Ammo is a close second if you have access to nether.

The weak points on a Harvester are the glowing disc in it's chest, or the eyes on the face. 3-4 shots from an Anti-Material rifle running Incinerary or Armor Piercing rounds here will put it down quickly.

If you're looking for a quick solution, take a look around the area briefly, most of the time there's a Hydra Rocket launcher or other heavy weapon nearby. One good bodyshot with the heavy weapon takes out that foe immediately.

The only place that this isn't fesable is the Thessia Mission. Just bunker down until Talon 5 returns to draw off the Harvesters. Between them and the Ravagers, pressing on is suicide.

What does this ending scenario mean? [closed]

Question

One of the ME3 endings involved

killing Shepard and thus gain control of Reapers. If Shepard is dead, how can s/he control the Reapers?

Asked by Donotalo

Answer

When describing the Control ending, we have the following conversation

Kid: You will die; you will control us but you will lose everything you have.

Sheperd: But the Reapers will obey me?

Kid: Yes.

(emphasis mine)

Saying that Shepard personally will control the Reapers implies that something of Shepard's consciousness will continue to exist to have that control. The part about losing everything also supports this because loss only means something to a consciousness that continues to exist.

The part saying that Shepard will die could mean a couple of things. It could mean that his body will die but his consciousness will somehow survive, perhaps either in the Citadel or distributed among the Reapers. Considering what the characters in the game have accomplished technologically (especially AI) and how much more advanced the glowing people were, this is not an unlikely possibility.

Another interpretation is that Shepard's body will be kept alive but he will have to stay at the controls forever. If this means that he can never again have contact with the outside world, then to everyone else it would be like he is dead, and he could never go back to life as he knows it.

The point is that the kid implies that Shepard's consciousness will continue to exist in some state while controlling the Reapers and it is likely within the Citadel's power to do this in a way that is consistent with Shepard "dying" in some sense.

Are there consequences for delaying Priority: Rannoch to complete Rannoch: Geth Fighter Squadrons?

Question

I've rescued the civilian fleet admiral and Admiral Raan mentioned that it'd be super good to destroy the Reaper base ASAP, but she also mentioned that the Quarian civilians will snuff it if I don't take out the Geth fighters. Is this false jeopardy, or do I have to make a real choice here? If I do, what are its ramifications?

Asked by kotekzot

Answer

No, it is in fact required for a peaceful solution to the Geth/Quarian conflict. If you do not complete this mission before taking out the Reaper Base you will not be able to Charm/Intimate a ceasefire.

When does Sabotage fail in Multiplayer?

Question

I recently tried out the Quarian Infiltrator in Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and turning the Geth against each other worked really, really well. But I observered that a few times my Sabotage power didn't seem to work on some enemies anymore.

What limits does the Sabotage power of the Quarian Infliltrator have? Why does it sometimes not work against synthetic enemies like the Geth?

Asked by Fabian

Answer

I played around in a solo-multiplayer session a bit and found the reason why Sabotage seems to fail sometimes. The duration of Sabotage decreases significantly each time you apply it on the same enemy. So the first time you sabotage a specific enemy you get the full duration, but if the enemy survives that and you sabotage him again, the duration will be much shorter than the first time. It seems to be roughly halved each time you reapply sabotage.

After 4 times sabotage seems to lose any effect on that specific enemy, and this is not specific to Geth Primes or other superior enemies, you can observe that with any Geth trooper. The reason it seems to happen especially often with Geth Primes is that most other enemies just don't survive long enough so that you have to use sabotage that often on them.

How do I interpret the “grenade warning” indicator?

Question

When someone lobs a grenade in my direction, I get a little warning icon on my HUD. However, I've never been able to determine how severe the danger is - sometimes I lose almost all my shields and many of my bars of health, and other times I barely take damage when it goes off.

Is there some information encoded in the warning icon that would tell me how close the grenade is, and how I should react to it?

Asked by agent86

Answer

The Grenade indicator is not granular enough to give a good estimate of the potential "lethality" of any given grenade. Instead, it is a simple boolean indicating whether or not you're in range of some of the damage.

If you can see the grenade indicator, you will take damage when it goes off - but it won't tell you how much in advance.

How soon do I have to change difficulty levels to get the Mass Effect 3 insanity award?

Question

I just started the game and it never game me an option to change the difficulty like in Mass Effect 2.

The first thing I did after cinematic start finished, was change the difficulty from normal to insanity. Is there a period where I have time to change it before it takes hold, or am I now doomed to not getting the award for playing 1 second on normal?

It's on Insanity now and will remain so till end of game.

Asked by Doomsknight

Answer

You should be fine. As shown here, the description for the Insanity achievement is

Finish the game on Insanity without changing difficulty after leaving Earth.

(bold mine)

So, as long as you changed the difficulty while you were still on Earth (which you said you did), you will get the achievement when you beat the game.

Which NPC's romance each other?

Question

I didn't romance any character in the first two parts but romanced Liara in the last part.

Now, I found Garrus and Tali kissing in the main gun calibration room and I was wondering, are there any other romancing scenes between teammates? For example, if I had romanced Tali instead, would Garrus be with Liara or if I would have been a femshep and romance Garrus, would Tali be with Liara.

I'm not interested only in this trio, but curious in general: which teammates romance each other in Mass Effect?

Asked by mindnoise

Answer

No, this is one of only two visible romances on board, other than your own. The other is Ken and Gabby, as per @ERazER's comment. I personally haven't seen that one. While it may be implied that other relationships may happen, there isn't a scene to walk in on for them. In any case, they don't involve your squad mates, except Joker and EDI. Can't see them making out either.

Will Lair Of The Shadow Broker change my game if downloaded half-way through?

Question

I've started playing ME3, and was wondering if there's now any point in downloading LOTSB? I'm not too far in to ME3, I've just recruited Garrus. Will LOTSB have any bearing on my game if I play it now?

Answer

No, it will not, from a gameplay perspective. But imo it's good for you lore-wise. Things about Liara will change, which will be explained in the Lair Of The Shadow Broker DLC, and those changes will be in effect in ME3 weither you play the DLC or not, so it might be wise to do it.

How do I save Anderson?

Question

I have already beaten the game twice, but both times I have been unable to save Anderson. The first time I realized it was because

I didn't have at least 4000+ effective military strength, but after returning to the scene on the Citadel with 5000+, the Illusive Man still makes me shoot Anderson, which leads to his death shortly after.

Are there specific dialogue options I have to make during this scene? Does a Renegade/Paragon quick time show up that I'm just missing? I have only tried picking the Paragon options.

Asked by Kotsu

Answer

"Saving" Anderson means preventing the Ilusive Man from shooting him a second time. There's no way to avoid his eventual death.

Can I import someone else's Mass Effect 2 save on a PS3?

Question

This question about where to find a full Mass Effect 2 save file made me wonder, on the PS3 can I import ME2 save data from another person when I play Mass Effect 3?

I know PS3 save files are tied to the user ID to a certain amount so I'm wondering if I can import these save files at all and if it would be possible to download a copy to import as I haven't played ME2.

Asked by Ben Brocka

Answer

This is technically possible, but for some titles it requires software designed to circumvent basic built-in security measures in the PS3. Not that there's a PS3 police knocking on your door, but if you want to be really technical, using another player's save on the PS3 network is considered a violation of their TOS.

When are Galaxy At War N7 Operation Bonuses awarded?

Question

I would like to know when do you get the commendation pack for completing an N7 Operations weekend -- immediately, or after the operation ends?

Also are the bonuses cumulative?

Asked by AdrieanKhisbe

Answer

So far, the Victory and Commendation packs have always been awarded in the week following the N7 operation, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

N7 weapons earned from Commendation packs are just like any other weapon in multiplayer - they start at level 1, and must be earned again to advance to the cap of level 10. So yes, the awards are cumulative - if you earn an N7 Hurricane I in one operation, you can then earn an N7 Hurricane II in the next, or you could earn an N7 Eagle I instead. It's just the luck of the draw.

Is there a way to disable the Codex entry pop-ups in Mass Effect 3?

Question

Whenever I stumble across a new Codex entry, the game throws up a big "Codex Updated" message in the bottom-right corner of the screen. It's moderately annoying and distracting as it takes up about 1/6 of the screen. I frequently just ignore the message anyway and catch up on my designated codex reading in big batches.

Is there a way to disable this pop-up?

I'm playing on Xbox 360 so mods/patches/whatnot won't work for me, although if such options exist, feel free to post them as I'm sure this "feature" annoys some PC users as well.

The image below is what the issue looks like on my TV. (Sorry for the terrible picture. It's hard to snap a photo with a controller in your hands!)

Answer

No, but you can mark as read to get rid of the "NEW!" icon next to the Codex in the menus.

How do I establish peace between the Geth and the Quarians?

Question

Legion is cool. Tali is also cool. I don't want to pick between them.

In ME2, I told the Quarians to not go to war, but they did so anyway.

It seems that it's not possible to stop the war from starting in ME3, but is there any way to end it in a way that doesn't involve total annihilation of one of the sides? I like Quarian Engineers AND Geth Infiltrators.

How do I unite the Geth and the Quarians against the Reapers?

Asked by Rare Candy

Answer

In order to reconcile the Geth-Quarian War and gain the most out of the situation you need to score at least 5 points on the following list

Mass Effect 2 Decisions

  • +2 for Tali is exonerated at her trial (eg NOT exiled)
  • +2 for destroyed the heretics
  • +1 for resolving the Tali/Legon conflict with a renegade or paragon solution

As noted in this answer, if you did not import a game and started a new mission in ME3 you will have saved Tali, Tali will have been exiled by her people and Legion was never activated and thus the heretic mission would have have appeared. Ergo this avenue is closed if you started a new game file.

Mass Effect 3 Decisions

  • +1 for Rannoch: Destroy the Geth Squadron on Rannoch (aka fighter base)
  • +1 for Rannoch: Save the Admiral (not his men, the admiral)

You must also complete Legion's Mission in ME3 or the peace options will note be available. You need a high reputation to get the Paragon/Renegade options to appear.

If you rewrote the heretics in ME2 instead of destroying them, and still manage to achieve peace, you'll get more war assets but there will be less Quarians.
