Where can I find a collection of TD maps for Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne?

Question

Is there a site somewhere with a whole bunch of TD maps? How do I find more good ones?

Asked by Artemis

Answer

Epic War has a large collection of Warcraft 3 maps.

Just choose a category on their search page:

http://www.epicwar.com/maps/search/

Here is a search URL for all Survivor TD maps, sorted by Downloads:

Are there any guides or walkthrough to Two Worlds 2 Castle Defense?

Question

I can't get past the first level on Two Worlds 2 Castle Defense (http://store.steampowered.com/app/7530/ or http://www.twoworlds2.com/cd/about-en.html - DEMO), I die in 9th round or so and I have tried already many different combinations with no success at all...

Answer

By first level, you mean the Oswaroth's battle right? Here is my final combination:

  • Hero attack lv+2
  • 2 priest heal lv+2 each
  • 2 fire mage attack Lv+2 - HP Lv2 each
  • 1 royal guardian HP lv 3, attack lv 3

I already passed that level. Good luck!

Most effective path (tower defense maps)

Question

I'm playing a SC2 "tower-defense"-like map, and need to find out how to build walls efficiently, so that units stay longer on the map and take more damage.

The map looks like this:

The most common strategy is to build your wall around a turning point (the red arrow). This seems to give you the ability to deal a lot of damage and a decent time advantage.

But how can I increase that time, by building two spirals, around two turning points, and make it so the unit has to pass one of them 2 times in order to get to the end?

I know it's possible, I've seen it in another map, but can't remember how. :(

Answer

The best solution i have found for games like this where you can manipulate the path is to build a wall that divides every other turn point on each side, block the wall in 1 side and build strong towers in the open end.

enter image description here

The green line is cheap towers for walling and the blue line are your expensive damage and utility towers for doing the actual damage, this forces the creepers to pass your expensive high damage towers for every turn point. remember to focus the high damage towers right at the path if the game has flying units you want all your towers to be able to reach them. if the game has some anti air towers and you need to build some of them you can have them as part of the green wall where the path crosses it self.

What's a good strategy for Endurance in Gemcraft Labyrinth?

Question

What's a good strategy to get max score from Endurance modes in Gemcraft Labyrinth?

Answer

I was one of the first people to beat endurance mode (level 1337) on Armor Games' leaderboards. It's not that hard once you have it set up right.

I'll re-paste the mini-guide I posted on JIG here:

The first key is to get a gem that is Yellow-Orange-Lime... in a trap. You'll have to 8x-Amp a single tower for a while before you have a high enough gem, but once your YOL gem is about grade 12 or 13 you can put it in front of the entrance and instantly fill your mana bar with dead monsters.

The second key is to use Giants Only and summon as many as you can handle each wave while you're still setting up. For me, it was 1 gem grade per 10 waves, so 1-10 is a grade 1 gem, 11-20 is grade 2, etc. You make a huge profit by doing this, since the giants are worth so much per kill. Do not summon after 160 or so, since the natural HP of the creeps quickly starts to climb to 3.33 billion. The nice thing about this is that the max natural creep HP stays at 3.33 billion for the rest of the game.

Other important tips:

  • Put a blue/purple trap before your YOL trap until you're comfortable that your YOL can kill anything (grade 20-21 or so).
  • Remember: Don't summon after round 160 or so. You've been warned.
  • Get your amulets done early on in the battle. For example, it takes about 4-6 grade 19s in a shrine to kill off a monster with 3 billion HP, so save yourself the trouble.

I did this for the first time on H11, and ended up with a total multiplier of 7583.

What is the 17th achievement in Bloons TD4 for iPhone?

Question

I have played through all the levels and challenges on the iPhone 4 version of Bloons TD4. I have only received 16 of 17 achievements, and the last achievement is not visible. Game center shows 1000 of 1000 points earned, and googling didn't turn up any answers, so I'll pass it to you, what is the missing achievement from the list below? Is it a confirmed typo of some sort?

I have recieved

  • Learning the Ropes
  • Experimental Upgrade
  • Ocean Breeze
  • Ranking up
  • Top Rank
  • Monkeying Around
  • Advancing on the ...
  • Expert
  • War Veteran
  • Bloon Buster
  • Exterminator
  • Moab Mauler
  • Elite Agent
  • Sun Worshipper
  • Shock and Awe
  • Branching Out

Answer

The secret 17th achievement is Temple Monkey:

Temple Monkey: Unlock the secret of the Temple Monkey!

The secret is... (mouse over to see - you may want to try to get it yourself before reading any further)

Get 40 towers and 30,000 bananas on the Temple Monkey level (the last level).

It will ask if you want to upgrade the Temple Monkey; click yes. Doing this will sacrifice 40 of your towers (the first 40, I believe).

The Temple Monkey looks to be about as powerful as two plasma super-monkeys.

------------------------------

BEST WAY TO GET THIS ACHIEVEMENT

You don't have to beat the level, just get the Temple Monkey, so the easiest way is to start out with a few (four) overpowered boomerang-monkeys, and get an upgraded banana farm. Then just to spam cheap dart monkeys and banana farms until you have enough towers and can afford the Temple Monkey.

This is almost trivial if you have the exploding dart upgrade, as it makes the non-upgraded dart monkey the best tower in the game for its price. You can literally beat an entire level on hard with nothing but exploding-dart monkeys and banana farms.

Defense Grid: more towers or upgrades?

Question

In Defense Grid: The Awakening, is it more cost-efficient to build more towers or upgrade existing ones?

Answer

I asked devs the same question and turned out there is no difference from both cost and damage points of views (except for temporals and commander towers). I upgrade towers that are located in most valuable places (i.e. where aliens pass several times) where space is limited.

Quote from a dev:

The choice is actually entirely up to you.

level 1 gun tower - cost 100

level 2 gun tower - cost 200 (total paid = 300)

level 3 gun tower - cost 400 (total paid = 700)

The damage a level 2 gun tower does is exactly 3 times as much as a level 1 gun tower. The damage a level 3 gun tower is exactly 7 times as much as a level 1 gun tower.

Essentially, a single level 3 gun tower is equal to seven level 1 gun towers. They do the same total damage and the total cost of each are also the same.

If you're building a maze, the seven towers is probably the better choice. If you're limited on space, or you have a kill zone setup with a temporal tower, then perhaps the full upgraded gun tower is the better choice.

It really depends on your playstyle and the choices you make for any given map.

By the way, the above example is true for all towers. (Except the Temporal and Command tower, they're special.)
