Can you play coop online?

Question

I've been googling quite a bit and can't find anything definitive. Does NBA 2K12 allow co-op play online? My friend and I want to play on the same team but not have to be in the same house together.

If it does, which modes support it?

Asked by Gregg

Answer

NBA 2K12 supports 2-10 player network games.

How do I achieve a gold score on the dribble drill?

Question

Even though I made it past all the cones, blockers, and scored the shot(dunks and layups most of the time) on the dribble course drill (all three drills), my final score wasn't high enough to get a gold score. What else do I need to do to get the gold score?

Answer

Beating the defenders on the second and third drills yields extra 150 points each time, there's also a time bonus relative to the time left on the clock. Check out this guide:

How can I do 360 dunk in NBA 2k12?

Question

I'm having trouble doing a dunk.

It says to turn the right stick 360 degrees, but it's not happening.

How can I do it? Is there any trick that's not made clear by the instructions given?

Answer

It, unfortunately, takes practice. It may sound stupid for a game, but it's true. Also, you can't go any more or less than 360 degrees. Hope this helps!

NBA 2K11 vs. NBA 2K12

Question

What are the differences between NBA 2K11 and NBA 2K12?

Since NBA is still in lockout mode, I don't think there are any changes in team and player lists. What I wonder (as an NBA 2K11 gamer) is whether I'll feel any changes in terms of game play, graphics, modes, etc. if I buy 2K12.

Answer

I have played both, and here are some of the biggest differences I've noticed:

Gameplay changes:

  • You can shift into post mode with one button press
  • Ally oop passes are easier
  • Pump fakes is a lot harder to defend this time, you can easily get someone into the air and draw a foul.
  • Improved hot/cold steaks and 3 point shooting. Its a bit easier to make those open shots now, especially on a hot streak.
  • Passing is still a bit iffy.

Player Mode changes:

  • You now earn a salary. You can use that salary to purchase additional skill points, increase your skill cap, and other things (such as improving team rating), buying dunk packages, etc.
  • When your rookie contract expires (takes many seasons!) you can start negotiating with other teams for a better contract.
  • There are more key games, and you can simulate to play the next key game from the main menu rather than having to go into the game and choose simulate until end of game.
  • The previous height limit for positions have been removed, so you can make a 6 foot center if you wanted to :P

Because of the lockout, the entire rookie class are randomly generated names (really sucks), rather than the actual rookie class of 11.

I haven't explored the other modes in depth yet, but this feels more like a complete game than 2k11 was, at least to me.

What does this icon next to the player mean?

Question

The star means all star, basket means can dunk, the three means that they have a good three pointer. But what does this icon mean?

enter image description here

Answer

The Gatorade symbol indicates that a player is tiring and needs to be substituted. As is the case with most sports games, the manual mentions nothing about this at all; the only hint I found about it was on the hoopsgaming forum.
