How can I quickly earn money / experience in Pocket Frogs?

Question

What are some strategies that can be used to quickly earn money or gain experience in Pocket Frogs? For experience, you can complete awards, however it takes a while when your stamp or potion supply runs low.

Answer

One of the easier and less involved ways to make some extra money is to keep two copies of your most expensive frog and then breed them. If you want to make a little extra, keep a habitat with lots of +happiness items and move the frogs into there for a while before you sell. While they're sitting in there getting happier, you can have another set of 8 in egg form. Rinse and repeat.

How is it possible to get a score of 2 billion in Cut the Rope?

Question

I just played through the first box (cardboard) in Cut the Rope, aiming for the fastest times and therefore highest score. It seems like the absolute highest score you can get for a level is around 6,000 (I got just over 5,900 for essentially an 'instant solve').

So when I'd finished I amassed 139,800 points (avg ~5,600 per level). Imagine my surprise when I logged onto the game center only to find the top score for Cardboard Box is 2,298,946,210!!!

As far as I can tell, it only takes the highest score for each level, so playing through levels again doesn't keep adding to your score. Are all these users cheating in some way? Or is there another way to improve scores?

Answer

Yes, I'm nearly certain they're cheating. Generally, you'll find the value 2,147,483,647 as a high score, because this is the highest value kids people can input using their cheat programs. (highest value a signed int can store)

Screen goes black when I play Infinity Blade

Question

I was playing Infinity Blade on my iPhone 4 and I selected game center option to look at my achievements and when I push the "Done" button, the screen went black. I exited the app and went back it is still black.

How do I fix this issue and return to the game?

Answer

The reason the app is still black is likely because it is still running. Try exiting to your Springboard (home screen) and double-tapping the home button, bringing up the multitasking bar. Find Infinity Blade, and hold down your finger on the icon. They will start to wobble, like you are rearranging apps. Press the little minus icon on the Infinity Blade icon - this quits the app. Tap anywhere on your home screen to return, and try launching Infinity Blade again.

How to find iOS games supporting new game center?

Question

Now that the Apple Game Center has opened the gates, where/how can I find games that support these new features? Searching the app store shows me many games, but not specifically those wich support the GC.

Answer

There's an icon devoted to it in the Featured tab in the App Store. While that may disappear in the future, you can also find a section under Hot New Games.

Judging by how long Made for iOS 4 has lasted under Hot New Games, this is likely where you'll always want to look for Game Center-enabled games.

Are there any specific tactics or strategies I should use to improve my score at Fruit Ninja?

Question

Obviously, I can just "miss fewer fruit" and "avoid more bombs".

But when I compare my score to the high scores, I suspect there's a specific approach more specifc than "go study with fruit monks in Tibet".

Answer

  1. Make sure you are using sound. The bombs will make a sound before they are launched which helps some.
  2. Don't be afraid to use the pause button. Once you pause/unpause, you can't pause again for a second or two, but it can be useful when all hell breaks loose.
  3. Remember that for every 100 fruit, an X will disappear (i.e. when your score crosses 100,200,300,etc).

How to reach 100% total destruction with the Mighty Eagle in Angry Birds?

Question

I recently purchased the Mighty Eagle in Angry Birds for iPhone. To use him, you toss out a can of sardines and the Eagle swoops down to retrieve it, destroying everything in it's path, including all the pigs. If the Eagle destroys everything, you get a feather (you're rated on a percentage scale, e.g. 85% destroyed, 93% destroyed, etc.). Get enough feathers and you earn some achievements. I've been able to earn a few feathers, but haven't figured out what has to happen to get to 100%. Everytime I've earned 100%, there are usually some wood/glass/stone pieces leftover.

What criteria does the game use to measure the amount of destruction the Mighty Eagle has wreaked?

Answer

A simple way would be to keep trying till you destroy everything. Note that you can use some of the other birds before using the Eagle!

However there is a "4-stars" score for each level, invisible to you. (See: Eagle Score on this AngryBirdsNest post). You have to reach that score, by destroying most of the stuff with the eagle, to get 100%. The percentage of that score you get is the percentage shown to you.

Spoiler:

Check out this YouTube video for an example of how to get 100%.

Do the Final Fantasy 2 leveling tricks still work in the iPhone version?

Question

I just downloaded the iPhone version of Final Fantasy II (as in, the original NES Final Fantasy II, not Final Fantasy IV, which was sold in the US as "II").

As the answerers of this question will know, the game has a unique "strengthen what you use" leveling system. I remember that in the NES version, you could game this system to your advantage in the following ways:

  • Beat the crap out of yourself to increase your max HP
  • Spend MP senselessly to increase your max MP
  • Select a command, then cancel it, and repeat, in order to boost the stats associated with selecting that command (e.g. repeatedly select "fight" to boost your weapon's hit rate).

Does anybody know if any of these tricks still work in the iPhone version? If so which ones? I haven't been able to test the most easily falsifiable trick of beating myself up, since my HP so far has been consistently lower than my attack power. Whenever I hit myself, I tend to just die. (I'm hoping this will change as I progress.)

PS to high-rep readers: Could you please add the new tag "final-fantasy-ii" to this question, if you have enough reputation to do so? Thanks, aardvark!

Answer

From a bit of looking around, it appears that the iOS version of FF2 is a pretty much direct port of the PSP version with added touch controls, so if you can find any information related to the PSP version, that should apply here as well.

That being said, I looked at multiple walkthroughs and reviews for the PSP version, and many of them mentioned hitting yourself to increase HP, as well as spending lots of MP to increase your maximum. So both of those tricks should work.

However, the cancelling trick was removed from the GBA version of the game, and has not been present in any of the ports/remakes from that point onwards.

How do I unlock the Onion Knight in the iOS version of Final Fantasy III?

Question

In the original Final Fantasy III, Onion Knights were the default class. When the game was remade for the Nintendo DS, Freelancers became the default class and Onion Knights were unlocked via a secret quest involving the Mognet.

When this remake was ported to iOS devices, Mognet was removed. However, the Wikipedia article for Final Fantasy III mentions this:

A port of the remake for iOS was released on March 24, 2011. In which the game-play and graphics where improved sound was also remastered But the Mail/Mognet to other players was removed. And the "Onion Knight" was found in another quest.

What is that quest, and what are the steps one needs to take to unlock the Onion Knight?

Answer

Here's a quote from another FF wiki:

In the iOS version, the quest is opened up after defeating Gutsco in the Molten Cave and reading all of the letters Topapa sends you up until that point.

Is the Infini-Lift Lightspeed worth it?

Question

In Tiny Tower, is the Infini-Lift Lightspeed worthwhile? It's fairly expensive at 499 Bux. Does it have any special features or is it just faster?

Answer

In a word: Yes

It is so incredibly fast. Even better, it's much easier to actually stop at the target floor (even if it's floor 2). For some reason, it's also easier to read the floor numbers. (Personally, I also think it looks better than the previous elevator, but that might just be me.)

It does take a while to save up for it, but I would definitely recommend it.

How to beat Mission 17 in Uniwar?

Question

I've been playing this game Uniwar for the iPhone. I beat every mission in the campaign, but now I'm on mission 17 and it's impossible. No matter what I do, I just get owned. What is the strategy to beat this mission?

Answer

Since whenever I've played this mission the AI just uses infantry and helicopters I suggest purely using Eclipses and playing to their strengths:

  • Fire from range when possible.
  • Don't be afraid to retreat to avoid close-range combat, especially vs helicopters or on unfavourable ground (Forest / Swamp in this case).
  • Conserve your units and pull them back to repair if necessary - keep doing this and you'll end up with an overwhelming numerical advantage.

Also I wouldn't bother trying to capture the enemy's forward base (since the capturing infantry unit will be very vulnerable), just sit a unit on it to prevent spawns.

Remember you don't need to capture bases, occupying all bases without capturing them is enough for victory.

This is based on Mission 17 of the Android version of the game, I'm assuming it's the same as on the iPhone.

Is there a seventh prize tier in Coin Dozer?

Question

I've got a couple prize collections at the 3rd or 4th tier (meaning that I have at least 3 or 4 of each prize color) and the next logical goal would be to get to the 6th tier.

When I reached tier one, that single star turned into six stars, indicating that I had more tiers to reach. Does it do the same thing at tier six, or is there no endgame beyond getting six of everything?

Answer

I can confirm that the star counts do not increase beyond six and that there is no "reward unlocked" message for a seventh tier collection, leading me to believe that benefits do not increase beyond tier six.

What is this blue bubble above my head in Zenonia?

Question

I'm playing Zenonia for the iPhone, and I'm in the snow levels. My character has a weird blue bubble floating above his head. Sometimes it's solid blue, other times it's white with a blue symbol inside of it. It's always sparkling and has a little sparkling chain that connects it to my character.

Normally I would assume this is some sort of status effect, perhaps due to the cold. But I can't figure out what status it actually is. Also, nothing I do makes it go away. It also doesn't seem to actually be hurting me in any way.

White with blue bits in it

Solid blue

Answer

It's a fairy that's part of the storyline and follows you around. If you are on the "good side", the fairy is blue, and if you're on the "bad side", the fairy is red. According to Zenonia's trailer video, their names are Langue and Parole respectively. (Also, in the final scene of the video you can see the character chose the "evil path" and has Parole floating above his head.)

What is the 17th achievement in Bloons TD4 for iPhone?

Question

I have played through all the levels and challenges on the iPhone 4 version of Bloons TD4. I have only received 16 of 17 achievements, and the last achievement is not visible. Game center shows 1000 of 1000 points earned, and googling didn't turn up any answers, so I'll pass it to you, what is the missing achievement from the list below? Is it a confirmed typo of some sort?

I have recieved

  • Learning the Ropes
  • Experimental Upgrade
  • Ocean Breeze
  • Ranking up
  • Top Rank
  • Monkeying Around
  • Advancing on the ...
  • Expert
  • War Veteran
  • Bloon Buster
  • Exterminator
  • Moab Mauler
  • Elite Agent
  • Sun Worshipper
  • Shock and Awe
  • Branching Out

Answer

The secret 17th achievement is Temple Monkey:

Temple Monkey: Unlock the secret of the Temple Monkey!

The secret is... (mouse over to see - you may want to try to get it yourself before reading any further)

Get 40 towers and 30,000 bananas on the Temple Monkey level (the last level).

It will ask if you want to upgrade the Temple Monkey; click yes. Doing this will sacrifice 40 of your towers (the first 40, I believe).

The Temple Monkey looks to be about as powerful as two plasma super-monkeys.

------------------------------

BEST WAY TO GET THIS ACHIEVEMENT

You don't have to beat the level, just get the Temple Monkey, so the easiest way is to start out with a few (four) overpowered boomerang-monkeys, and get an upgraded banana farm. Then just to spam cheap dart monkeys and banana farms until you have enough towers and can afford the Temple Monkey.

This is almost trivial if you have the exploding dart upgrade, as it makes the non-upgraded dart monkey the best tower in the game for its price. You can literally beat an entire level on hard with nothing but exploding-dart monkeys and banana farms.

How do I complete Level 02-19?

Question

I hate to ask for help with games like this, but I've been stuck here for quite some time. Can anyone give me the solution?

Geared 2: 02-19

Answer

enter image description here

To get the left-cog on the right to move to the left:

  1. Use the spare cog to block the down-cog from moving by placing it to the left, interlocking with the other cog.
  2. Remove the existing cog. The left-cog will move to the left and the down-cog will fall.

How do I escape the arena?

Question

The first time I encountered a statue that offered to take me to the arena, I went there. I've now fought to my death several times. When I die, I'm asked if I want to retry. Selecting "yes" brings me back to the arena. Selecting "no" brings me to the title screen (and "continue" from there puts me right back in the arena). There seems to be no menu option for leaving.

Do I have to get through a certain number of waves to exit? Do I have to restart the chapter? How the heck do I get back to playing the storyline?

Answer

When you respawn in the puddle of water, go to opposite direction of the arena (back) and near the pool there are two Ares Statues. You can use those to leave.

I just passed 200 levels and the monster programming is clearly repetitive, which points to the possiblity of infinite levels, though I'm certain that they didn't program as many numbers.

What's the best way to make money in Tiny Tower?

Question

Do you guys know the best way to get money and make everyones happy in Tiny Tower. It's very addicting and need some help to get money fast and build more floors.

Answer

This game I found to be interesting. Making people happy is easy - give them their dream jobs. This only helps to give you a few extra TowerBux. To make money and more floors, simply build a residential floor, and look at the people in there once you add them in. Lets say 3 have creative personalities or higher levels in creativity. Make a creative floor next. Keep checking the app every 15 minutes or so and keep restocking every store. Having fully restocked floors will give you extra cash and TowerBux.

It takes AGES, let me tell you. I have 107 floors and it took months. Just be VERY patient and continue stocking as much as you can.

Game Center achievements for Cat Physics

Question

Since a major update a few days ago, Cat Physics (and other Donut Games games like Cave Bowling) supported Game Center features and achievements. When I look at my Game Center account now, I can see I've earned 11 out of 12 achievements, but if I take a look at the list, there are only 11 achievements listed (and I've gotten all of them) - nothing I haven't earned and nothing that is in progress. The achievements I've earned:

  • 2500 points
  • 15000 points
  • 50000 points
  • Completed 10
  • Completed 40
  • Completed 90
  • Three-starred 10
  • Three-starred 50
  • Fifty Buttons
  • Fifty slingshots
  • Fifty teleporters

What's the missing achievement and why isn't it listed in Game Center?

Answer

It doesn't exist. They're saving it for the next update.

Congrats on all those achievements though.
