How many times can you “prestige” in CoD:Black Ops?

Question

I have "prestiged" only once. And then realised, that you can do it again, and again, for no additional abilities apart from more fitout slots, and a gucci logo that indicates you're a "bada$$" (or a masochist in my case).

So, how many times can you prestige ?

Answer

There are 15 prestige levels in Black Ops. A full list of what you keep and lose can be seen at the Call of Duty Wikia

MW3 Challenges Locked Glitch

Question

I play on PS3. I am 1st Prestige Level 80 and I am unable to complete some challenges still (I have done these challenges, but the challenges say I have not completed them). I'm able to look at every challenge. When I go to a challenge, sometimes it will have 2-Different-Locks, 1 of the 2-Locks, or No-Locks under where it tells you how to complete the challenge. The Locks are on random challenges throughout my Barracks except my "Prestige Challenges". There is this other glitch that has been happening to me, I have been promoted to 1st-Prestige_Level_80 about 4 times randomly while in different ranked multiplayer matches. Is this why some of my challenges are locked and I am unable to complete them? I asked one of my friends if some of his challenges are randomly locked too, and he said yes. Can anyone tell me why some of my challenges are like this and/or how to fix this problem?

Answer

The lock icons indicate that when you complete that challenge, you'll unlock a new title or emblem. There's a "square" lock which indicates an emblem, and a "rectangular" lock which indicates a new title. It does not indicate a locked challenge. (I believe challenges you can't complete due to level or a missing unlock are grayed out instead)

You should be able to complete any challenge by the time you reach the 80th level of first prestige. Some of the pointstreak reward challenges require that those pointstreaks be unlocked in the relevant pointstreak menu. Note that if you're already at the max level, the only thing you can do is unlock the title/emblem, as gaining more XP means nothing at that point.

If you aren't making progress towards a challenge although you're sure you're doing it properly, this sounds like a bug. Also, you should only be able to level up to level 80 once per prestige. Technically, you have to get to level 81 in order to prestige again, but 4 times seems a bit much.

You may want to post your issue on the Technical Support forum of the Modern Warfare 3 forums. If there's an issue that requires the MW3 developers or community managers to get involved, that's the best place to post.

If I don't choose to prestige, can I still gain experience?

Question

After reaching level 80 and earning enough XP to prestige (81?), what happens if I chose not to prestige? Do I continue to rack up or accumulate XP (that can be seen when I eventually prestige) or am I stagnant at the max XP cap for the first set of ranks? I understand that guns will continue to level and that I can unlock titles and such, which is partly why I'm holding off leveling, I am close to finishing a challenge on the MK14 and don't want to lose my progress.

Answer

No, you do not gain additional XP, and any XP you gain over the amount needed to get to "prestige rank" or level 81, is lost. You can gain weapon XP, but know that your weapon XP will completely reset every time you prestige, even if you choose to unlock that weapon via a prestige token.

If you're close to finishing a big challenge, you might hold off on prestige mode, but all you'll be doing if you wait and finish is unlocking a new title and/or emblem at best. You can generally tell if a challenge will unlock a title or emblem by looking at the appropriate challenge in the Barracks. Challenges that will unlock new titles or emblems at the next level have a small title or emblem icon with a "lock" over it. The other rewards from challenges (generally just XP) will not carry over to your new prestige.

Emblems and titles are really the only things that carry over from prestige to prestige. Most challenges will also reset, and you could do them again, but you won't unlock anything new. Notice also that there is a special set of challenges/emblems that can only be unlocked after the first time you prestige. Some of these are "lifetime" challenges that do not reset on additional prestiges.

How do you earn prestige points in MW3?

Question

How do you earn prestige points/tokens in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3?

Is it only from leveling up to 50? Is there any other way?

Answer

You receive one prestige token per time you rank up to level 80 (not 50) and then prestige.

You can also get prestige tokens for other Call of Duty games that you've prestiged in, with one token per game being awarded to you.

What is Prestige in Globulation?

Question

After winning a game of Globulation2 I get a graph about different statistics. One of this graphs show Prestige, which I get for upgrading the school. What does Prestige influence? Is it only a statistic or does it make anything in the game?

Answer

From: http://globulation2.org/wiki/Prestige

The prestige system is an alternative way of winning Globulation 2. It is intended as a way of ending long games that would otherwise end in stalemate - the team which has greatest prestige when the the total prestige target is reached wins the game.

The prestige system is not well tuned yet, so it is extremely difficult to win the game by prestige. At present, each level 3 school a team owns is worth 50 prestige points and the prestige target depends on how many players there are in the game.

In a game of Globulation 2, prestige scores can be seen in the middle of the top line. The first number is your prestige score, the second number is the current total prestige of all players in the game, and the third number is the total prestige target. When total prestige reaches target amount, player with most prestige wins the game.

What is lost and gained by going prestige?

Question

What exactly is gained/lost from going prestige in Black Ops? I've heard that you keep the different layers, but not the various camo and attachments.

Answer

The rewards for prestige are as follows:

  • Prestige 1 Prestige Leaderboard, Custom Class 6
  • Prestige 3 Custom Class 7
  • Prestige 5 Custom Class 8
  • Prestige 7 Custom Class 9
  • Prestige 9 Custom Class 10
  • Prestige 11 Face Tattoos
  • Prestige 13 Clan Tag Colors
  • Prestige 14 Golden Camo
  • Prestige 15 Prestige Playlists

Apparently you lose everything except for emblems, including COD points...
