Can I change nature?

In part 3 of my adventures, I would like to find out if there is a way to change biomes.

In part 2, fredley said that it is possible to move terrain from one world to another, but the biomes wouldn't match.

Is there any way I can change the biome of a specific area to, say, Savanna?

According to this, biomes are dependent on the level seed stored in the world. So, it means that, for every chunks, biomes are not saved in the chunk, but regenerated each time. You only chance a changing a biome would be to change the seed, but it would change every biome on the map, and new chunks won't match the old ones.

How do I fix randomly moved chunks after a crash?

I was stupid and didn't keep a backup of my Minecraft server. Now, it crashed, biomes changed, chunks were moved around, part of my city of gone, an underground chunk was moved aboveground, is there ANY way I can fix this?

I.E. easily move chunks and change biomes.

Answer

They were moved because the map files got corrupt so it reads chunks in an out of place order.

It's like 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 would turn into 1 0 4 6 7 8 9 0 0, where 0 would be unreadable thus deleted.

Picking a known map editor should allow you to move chunks, they include terrain/forest generators.

And set up an automated back-up solution...

How can I copy part of a Minecraft world into another Minecraft world?

Backstory

The places that have been built on in my world aren't that big. It's a ~100x~100 square, a ~150x~50 rectangle in the Nether, and another ~100x~100 square accessed by portals.

The world is currently unplayable due to the server console spending so much time printing errors that the players time out. That, and for some reason it decided to spawn hundreds of sheep.

So I was wondering, is it was possible, and if so how, to move sections of this world into another, new, world?

Answer

Yes. Use MCEdit. You can copy the section in your old map, and save it as a schematic, which you can then import and place into a new world (generated with Minecraft by starting a new game), overwriting what was there before. Make sure Minecraft is closed while you are using MCEdit, otherwise you can corrupt your map.

Good Add-on to show coordinates in World of Warcraft

What is a simple Add-on that shows coordinates in WoW?

I found information about Koordinator and Cartographer in the Web, but both does not work (they are outdated, at least the versions I found) giving many Lua script errors when I enable them.

I've tried Carbonite as well, but it is very confusing and heavy.

I've used TomTom for as long as I can remember.
