What is the max level?

Question

What is the max level one can get to in the XBLA version of Puzzle Quest 2?

Asked by LordHits

Answer

The dungeon goes down 6 levels, so 7 including the level you start on.

As for your character you can get up to level 50. At 49 you get your last skill up, and 50 you get your last spell.

What's the easiest way to find rooms I haven't gone to?

Question

In an effort to get the Tourist achievement ("Visit every room in the game"), I went back through each area and made sure I walked into every room. Alas, after beating the game, my progress only appears to be 279/282.

Is there an easier way to find unvisited rooms than going to each stage and opening the map? Is it possible to see all maps without having to visit each location? Are there any rooms that aren't listed on a map?

Answer

You might try reading through the side quests at the end of the guide here. Certainly not ideal, but you may notice one that you don't remember doing, since you have so few rooms to go.

Does clicking when being attacked help block chance?

Question

When I'm attacked in Puzzle Quest 2, I've found that I tend to click the mouse button right when the hit lands (a habit likely formed by Super Mario RPG). I've found that I block attacks more often when I click the mouse than when I don't, but this isn't mentioned anywhere in the introduction.

Am I just experiencing a placebo effect, or does pressing the mouse actually help with block attempts?

Answer

Probably not.

There is no mention of this functionality in any of the official tutorials or documentation for PQ2, or anywhere else. All attack and defense success rates are based on your character's stats. Also, this functionality would be difficult to replicate on other platforms such as DS (where would I tap)?

Is Puzzle Quest 2 available for the PC?

Question

I've seen Puzzle Quest 2 on XBox live for some time now, but I've been holding out for a PC version, but I've had a hard time finding any info on it. I'm assuming they are just delaying the PC release to try to curb piracy and whatnot, but I can't find anything about a PC release date.

Answer

Yes, it has been confirmed to be released later this summer, although there is no official release date.
