Old LEGO online Flash game involving some kind of network

Question

I'm trying to remember the name of an old Flash game I used to play on the LEGO website. It was laid out on a grid, and you could place and move some kind of "programs." I also seem to remember that there was "spy" somewhere in the name.

Answer

I believe you are referring to Spybot: The Nightfall Incident.

The game is still available on some sites like JayIsGames (where I got the screenshot from).

Good typing games [closed]

Question

I'm looking for the best games in which typing is the core game mechanic. Flash, console, etc., the key component I'm looking for is mainly just amusement, and not necessarily educational. For example, Mario Teaches Typing could be one example, but is not the most fun in the world to play.

Asked by 146

Answer

The Typing of the Dead

From Wikipedia:

The Typing of the Dead has been described variously as a remake or mod of the original House of the Dead 2. Like the original, Typing of the Dead is styled as a first-person rail shooter game, but substitutes shooting zombies and other enemies with typing out words or phrases to kill them. When enemies appear, they are accompanied by a box showing a word, sentence or phrase which must be typed to neutralize the enemy. The length, and complexity, of the phrases increase during the game's progression.1 Other features retained include the challenges of saving survivors, which will alter the path the player character will take to his final destination, and the secrets/bonus items hidden throughout the game.

Can anyone identify this RTS Flash game that is like Space Station: Frontier?

Question

I remember playing a Flash game online that was had extremely similar mechanics to Space Station: Frontier for the iPhone. In fact, I think Space Station: Frontier was based off the game I am trying to remember. Does anybody know the name of it?

In the game, you have to build power chains to supply energy to resource harvesters and weapons to defend and expand your space empire. And the game is set in space.

Screenshot of the iPhone game:

Asked by Kevin Y

Answer

On Kongregate and other sites there is one called The Space Game: http://www.kongregate.com/games/CasualCollective/the-space-game

Looks remarkably similar and has the same 'networked space station' concept including asteroid harvesters and weapons to defend yourself against waves of hostile ships.

Can you kill sheep with axes?

Question

In Kingdom Rush, the Sorcerer Mage's Polymorph ability turns people into sheep which it says can't be blocked. This almost seems to do more harm than good sometimes sometimes if I'm using melee people. Can barbarians still hit them with their throwing axes? What about flying sheep, can they hit them?

Asked by Ullallulloo

Answer

Yes, the barbarian's flying axe attack can certainly hit sheep as they run pass them. I've set up an experiment and captured the result in this video. [.ogv, 13mb, sheep killing starts 40 seconds in]

Flash Hero Defense Game?

Question

Does anyone remember the following flash game that was either on Kongregate or Not Doppler or one of those flash game sites:

  • You had to defend your right side of the screen.
  • You had 3 classes: warrior, archer, and mage.
  • You attacked by clicking.
  • The mobs were round, coloured monsters with mouths.
  • Some of them looked kinda like Jigglypuff only a lot meaner, of course.
  • It was sprite based.

When the game started you chose a class: Archer, Mage (or wizard?), or Warrior (I think). When the in-game screen appeared, you clicked the screen. If you were archer, arrows would come horizontally from right to left where you clicked. You couldn't see your character on the screen. If you choose warrior, you rapidly had to click the mobs and cuts appeared on the mob you clicked on. As a mage, I think wherever you clicked there was some kind of AoE lightning that attacked every mob in the area. The background was grass. This is the best description I could get from what I remember.

So does anyone know this game?

If you play as archer, the gameplay is 90% similar to Defender.

P.S. It has kinda nice graphics.

P.P.S. If the game you are thinking of doesn't meet ALL the criteria, it's probably not it.

Answer

I finally found it with Google. It's on Kongregate, but it has a pretty low rating. It's called Defend Tribe.

Searching the name of seek n hide game

Question

Some 4-5 years back I played a "hide and seek" sort of game but dont know it's name. It was a simple flash game. On screen 3 baskets are shown and the Computer puts an item in one of those three baskets. The basekets are swapped randomly, and after some amount of time the player is asked to click the basket where the object was.

As you clear more levels the speed of the basket is increased. Can someone please tell me the name of this game?

Answer

This is a pretty common game that's been around for a very, very long time. It's called the "shell game." A quick google search for "shell game flash" came up with tons of results for games like this. Wikipedia says that this game dates back at least 400-500 years, and may be thousands of years old.

Unless there's something very specific about the game you played that made it more fun than others, you're probably best served just playing one of the more common implementations.

Another variant on this game is "3 card Monte" which is a common con artist moneymaker.

One of the more famous 'trick' shell games is the "cup and balls" sleight of hand demonstration. Penn and Teller do a very interesting version, which they performed for scientists and brain researchers as part of Nova Science Now in 2011. I can't link to the specific timecode in the video, but if you jump to about 9:45, you can watch them demonstrate.

Looking for a point-and-click flash game with horror elements

Question

It was very similar to 99 Rooms from what I recall. One of the screens had a book in it and when you clicked the book it made a startling scream and quickly flashed several pictures of mangled corpses. I believe there was also a screen prior to that with a dark figure standing in a stairwell or a hallway of some sort. I've gone through almost every room of 99 Rooms trying to find it but the only one or two frightening rooms in that game aren't it. This has been bugging me for a few hours and I cannot for the life of me remember what it was.

Answer

That sounds like NFH Propaganda. A comment on an article on this page mentions the book you spoke of. Many other people, including the writer of the article, also state that the game is a lot like 99 Rooms.

What are Mana Pearls for?

Question

In Hack Slash Crawl, you can obtain mana pearls by picking up mana pearls from chests or slain enemies or by selling items.

What are they used for?

Answer

They're basically your score. They're for determining your overall progression for gravestones and for earning certain titles.

Oh, and on some sites with that game you can earn badges/achievements for getting enough. Kongregate is one example.

What is the goal of Captain Forever?

Question

I just came across Captain forever, and after playing for a little while, I'm mesmerized, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to be doing. Do I need to stay in this area, and fight off all comers until I'm destroyed? Do I need to go somewhere?

Answer

"README.TXT"

Help me. Help us all. The blasts aren't natural phenomena. No no no. There's no covert demolition.
There's no invasion. There's just me and this wretched ship. Every explosion
that rocked this sector - every station slammed from orbit, every hull torn
apart, every... everything - was my fault. I pilot the Nemesis, and she cannot be destroyed. Her hull uses self correcting
harmonics to realign on intrusion, so when it breaches it detonates. The Nemesis
is quickly restored but everything around her is devestated. Booters and jackers
see the blast and come hunting, and I'm floating there in a lone command module.
A chocolate coated landmine. GOTO 10. I try to avoid the boot/jackers. I try to stop the Nemesis from detonating. I
try I try I try. But I fail. I'm failing. I need sleep. I need rest. I need
help. Help me. I patched a remote pilot interface to this web terminal so you
can fly the Nemesis from your browser. Keep her safe. - Capt. Farbs

The goal appeared in readme file is to keep Nemesis(which is your spaceship) from other ships.

The actual 'goal' is to blow up other spaceships and become most powerful spaceship in the Captain Forever space. You'll meet strange X-marked spaceships after get white parts.

EDIT : there's no "ending".

Is there a full version of Super Smash Flash 2?

Question

Hey, there! I have played Super Smash Flash 2 Demo for a while now. I enjoy the game very much, but you can only Brawl there. Like I said, I enjoy the game, but I want do something different using my favorite character (Ichigo :P), other than beating up other opponents. The first version of Super Smash Flash has alot more characters than the second part, and even has a story mode.

Since the title says "Demo", I'm guessing there is a full version to that game. So I was wondering if any of you guys know about the release date of the full version or where to find it. Please tell say any information you may have. :)

Answer

It appears that the "demo" is really just a beta version of the game, and that he full game has yet to be released. Check the official game developer's webpage, and you can see the he is releasing "demo" updates, which indicated the demo is really just a game in development. The wiki also seems to confirm this.

Looking for a Flash game based on collecting falling dots

Question

I believe it was flash based. The basic "premise" was collecting falling dots and your "player dot" got larger and larger. If you touched a red(?) dot your size went down. The whole time a rather pretty piano piece played, and the dots fell in time to the tempo of the song.

I know it's not a whole lot to go on, but I figured someone would remember.

Answer

It was either Music Catch, or Music Catch 2.

Looking for a site with newest good flash games? [closed]

Question

What site do you use to find good flash games?

Answer

I always browse on Kongregate for new flash games, and Newgrounds is an excellent site aswell.

Most of the times, Newgrounds has the newest games before Kongregate has them, as developers first post their games on Newgrounds, and later on Kongregate. Both sites have a superb collection of flash games though.

Can't remember name of space-strategy flash game

Question

The game i'm trying to find is an oldish flash game based on space strategy.

You start off facing against one or more enemies (all on the same unscrollable map) on a map populated with circles/planets. Each planet produces ships at some rate, you click-drag or select (can't remember) to send ships from one planet to another, i.e. attack/reinforce. Later in the game different types of planets are introduced, defense planets, mass-produce planets, etc. I believe you can upgrade your planets as well.

All in all its similar to Phage Wars in game play. If any of you can name/direct me to this game that would be great! I've been looking around for it but with the promiscuity of flash games my search has been in vain...

Edit: Due to several great replies that are multiplayer games, i should note that this game (as i remember it, is solely single player

Answer

Is it Star Baron?

What is the name of this Flash game?

There was sand in a maze, and you rotate the maze so the sand was falling thanks to gravity. The goal is to fill a pail in the ground by rotating the maze until the sand falls out into the pail. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Thanks.

Why are my flash game saves getting erased?

Question

After installing stand-alone flash games like Machinarium, Dino Run SE, and Space Rubbish (all of which are good games by the way) I find that my game saves keep disappearing.

I have read how cleaning programs like CCleaner can have this effect. I have CCleaner installed, but do not have it run automatically. I have found that whenever start and then quit IE 8, my saves disappear. I also run Firefox 7, but it seems to have no effect.

My question is: how can i stop IE from deleting these local Flash caches?

As a side note i wonder if any other browser does this by default.

Answer

Make sure you allow flash to save data to your hard drive.

Right click the flash game and select Setting (or Global settings). Under the "Storage" tab, make sure "Allow sites to save information on this computer" is checked.

Adobe also has a page you can use to set flash settings: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html

Can you sink Tall Ships?

Question

So I'm playing Moby Dick: The Video Game, and every now and then a tall ship comes by. For anyone not familiar with that term, I'm talking about the large, masted ships. (In this game, they are the ones that fire cannons at you.) These ships usually kill me, and so far I've been unable to sink any of them, or even knock any sailors out of them. Can they be destroyed at all? If so, how many hits does it take? Do I have to be a certain size before I can destroy them?

Answer

I believe that any ship can be sunk, but there are multiple ships with cannons and sails. I've sunken the first two, but it doesn't take a certain number of hits, I don't think. I think you just have to rock it until everybody falls off, then it breaks on it's own. I don't know if you have to be a certain size, but you can sink the first cannon one easily at 100 tons, and I think you have to be close to there for them to come.(Just had the second one come when I was really small, but it killed me before I could attack it.) Remember to use your boosts to jump up and fall on them.

EDIT: These are the two I'm talking about. That's as far as I've gotten so far, as that was one of Moby's last moments. :( Moby Dick - The Video Game screenshot showing the two ships that I'm talking about.

Identify a Flash Puzzle game involving rolling a rectangular prism

Question

Sometime between 2006-2008 I played a Flash game which had an isometric (2.5d) view, and you controlled with the arrow keys a 2x1x1 rectangular prism. You had to "roll" this prism (flipping it on end or on its side, or rolling it) so that it was standing up on an end goal square. There were holes you could fall through and buttons you could press to do things, and quite a number of levels. If I remember correctly I think it had a password mechanism for save games - that is, each level had a password, and to resume where you were you typed the password at the main screen (like old-school games before they had non-volatile memory).

That's about all I remember of it. I'd really like to play it again. Can you identify the game for me?

Answer

Is this the game you're talking about? It's called Bloxorz.

There's also a similar version on the PS3 called Cuboid if you're interested.
