Is there a way to assign damage to multiple defenders?

I have noticed that whenever the computer blocks with multiple defenders, the computer clearly decides which distribution of damage is most advantageous. It does not seem to matter what order I assign the defenders; no matter whether I assign them first, last, or in the middle, the damage will be assigned in such a way as to destroy my most important defender, leaving only the weakest defender if there isn't enough damage to destroy all of them.

Is there a way that I can assign the damage to defenders in a similar fashion, when I am attacking? Because right now it seems to default to the least beneficial distribution for me when there is not enough damage to destroy all defenders (i.e. the weakest defenders are killed first, in rather an opposite fashion to what happens when I'm the defender). Is this biased both ways in favor of the computer, or is there a way for me to enable further control?

In the normal tabletop card-game, if there are multiple creatures blocking one creature, it's the attacking-player who gets to choose what order to assign the damage.

In Magic 2012: DotP, when you are the attacker, by default the computer chooses an order for you (to keep the game "simple"). You can however change it so that you get to decide the order every time by going to Settings --> Advanced --> uncheck "Auto assign damage."

Magic The Gathering Tactics on ATI M880G Mobility Radeon HD 4200?

This game won't run on anything with OpenGL lower than 2.1, and I have all the latest software from ATI installed and I get OpenGL 1.1

How can I update the OpenGL or get the game to run?

Solved! After days of downloading different drivers for my video card, I decided to start from scratch, so here's what I did:

1. Went to "Manage" system on the "My Computer" icon (right click for menu), and then "Device Manager"
2. Uninstalled the driver on my video device.
3. Restart and then go to AMD/ATI website to look for the new drivers.
4. Instead of downloading the 57MB file (the Catalyst Control), I downloaded a 935KB file that scans your system and decides the best driver. So this downloaded the correct driver and voila! all fixed!

Now Tactics and Duels of the Planeswalkers are working great and I got OpenGL 3.3 :D

Difference between unlocking card decks and purchasing DLC deck packs

Is one able to unlock all the cards in MTG-DoP-2012 by just playing single player or are there some cards that are obtainable only by purchasing DLC deck packs? If there some that are only obtainable through purchasing, does anyone know of an online list of these cards?

There are two ways of getting cards unlocked in the standard M:TG Planeswalker games - you either play through the single player game multiple times with each of the decks, which will eventually unlock everything, or you can pay for the deck unlocks. You can get the full listings of all the cards in the decks that come with the game at http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Digital/DuelsOfThePlanesWalkers.aspx?x=mtg/digital/d12/decks - this will show you not only the unlockables for the standard decks but also the expansion decks and scheme decks that are used in multiplayer.

The rest of the DLC out there (The Deck Packs and the Expansion Pack) are totally optional, but you can only get their decks and cards by purchasing them - they are not able to be earned simply by beating the game. Pack 1 adds "March To War" (a R/W Soldier deck) and "Ghoulkeeper" (a black Zombie deck). Pack 2 nets you "Dark Heavens" (Black & White, angels & demons) and "Forest's Fury" (a Green stompy deck). The expansion pack will get you three new decks in addition to new cards for the old decks.

How to beat Challenge 1 of the 3rd Expansion in Duels of the Plainswalkers?

The title sums the question up pretty well. I simply haven't been able to figure out how to beat this challenge with the limited mana given, the limited direct damage dealing possibilites and the many lifelink creatures in Sorin's battlefield.

What is the solution to this challenge?

What do the icons next to defeated opponents mean?

Question

When you defeat an opponent, the game places a weird-looking sigil next to the opponent's portrait:

The colors might be hard to see, but the one to the left is bronze, and the two right ones are silver.

What do they mean? Do the colors represent the opponent's strength? How handily I trounced them? Something else?

Note: this is for Magic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012

The icon tells you what difficulty you have beaten that planeswalker on:

• Bronze is Mage
• Silver is Archmage
• Gold is Planeswalker

While playing around in "Magic The Gathering" via Steam I was wondering about how one builds his deck...

• Buying "online" cards?
• Obtaining more cards as bonus for completing the campaigns?
• Where do rare cards come from?

• You receive new cards at every challenge you win against computer or other players until you finish the collection.
• You cannot buy cards online or boosters.
• There are expansions to buy that allow to increase your collection of cards. At the moment there is only one available on Steam. If you have pre-ordered the game, is already included in your installation.
• Another expansion should be available probably within some months.

How do I choose which lands to tap?

Whenever I cast a spell, the game automatically taps an appropriate number of lands. However, it's often important to tap specific lands to leave correct mana available for additional spells. The game doesn't always do a very good job of picking the right lands to tap.

Is there any way I can manually choose which lands to tap when casting a spell?

For the sake of simplicity and quicker multiplayer play, Duels of the Planeswalkers games do not let you select which lands to tap.

This is has been a bit of a contentious thing in the official forums since the launch of the original game, and has not been addressed in Magic 2012.
