What time are XBLA games released?

Question

EST/PST? Are they released at the same official time each Wednesday, or does it vary? If it does, what time are they generally released? Looking for a definitive source.

Asked by Sean

Answer

From Wikipedia it seems a vast majority of the games were released on Wednesdays, at least for the sampling of about 10 released in 2012 that I checked. I do note that this is not an absolute rule, as a game ironically named "Anomaly: Warzone Earth" was released on April 6th, 2012 - a Friday. Unless that is an error, which would in turn be even more ironic.

From Major Nelson's blog it appears that he posts updates about Arcade games around ~6 AM PST on release days most of the time. I think this is about the best info you are likely to get and there's no way to be sure it will stay that way. Also note that all games state "Check availability in your Xbox Live region", which means that while this info is probably accurate for US, times may vary by hours or days for other regions.

What is the max level?

Question

What is the max level one can get to in the XBLA version of Puzzle Quest 2?

Asked by LordHits

Answer

The dungeon goes down 6 levels, so 7 including the level you start on.

As for your character you can get up to level 50. At 49 you get your last skill up, and 50 you get your last spell.

Getting US Xbox Live games in europe

Question

I desperately try to find flotilla on XBLA Europe. I had a look in all games under "F", and i looked for it with the search option. But without any success. Any idea how i could get in anyway? Is it possible to buy XBLA games on CD? Or to get a US account just to buy a game and then switch back to my normal account?

Thank you for your help

Asked by meo

Answer

You will have to create a new, American Live account. Create an American account with Hotmail or Live. I say create new because you won't be able to change your country if you already have a UK Hotmail account. I had the same issue, so I created a new account with "Location: US", used my credit card, and it worked. Any major credit card should work when purchasing points. If you can't use your credit card, you can always buy a points card from Amazon (or elsewhere) and redeem the card's code on your account.

The drawback here is that all the stuff you in your previous account needs to be re-bought and there is no way to transfer that ownership. However, the XBLA and other downloaded games should be accessible from the new account if you are using the same Xbox 360.

Which is ilo, and which is milo?

Question

Whenever I play ilomilo, I can't keep track of which character is ilo (Ilona), and which character is milo (Milton). I really enjoy ilomilo, but I need to know which -ilo is which, because in ilomilo I'm constantly getting my milo confused with my ilo, and my ilo confused with my milo. I feel that calling your ilo milo and your milo ilo kind of ruins the cheery atmosphere you feel when you play as ilo and milo in ilomilo.

ilomilo

TL;DR: Which character is 'ilo', and which one is 'milo'?

Asked by GnomeSlice

Answer

Ilo is red, Milo is blue. That's it! :)

Why can't I play the Xbox Live Arcade games I've bought without an internet connection?

Question

A long time ago, I bought a few games from Xbox Live Arcade (Toy Soldiers and Greed Corporation). We haven't set up our internet connection yet since we moved, but I can still play them unlocked.

The youngest also enjoys these games so we decided to get them on his Xbox. We went to a friends place, used the friend's Xbox which was connected to the internet and bought the games on our silver account.

As long as the youngest's Xbox is connected to the internet, the games are full games and unlocked, but once I take it back home and set it up off the internet, the games revert back to trial games.

Is there anyway to unlock these games on his Xbox like they are on my Xbox?

I heard it might be related to the fact that originally, the silver account was on a memory card, but i transfered it to the hard drive a few months ago.

Answer

When you purchase a game from XBLA, that game is licensed in 2 ways:

  1. To the account you purchase with it.
  2. To the machine that you purchase it on.

Seeing as you purchased those games on another machine, that's why it is requiring you to be online to verify those games are licensed to your account.

What you need to do is transfer content licenses to your console. It is a multi-step process, and you need to be with your new machine as you might need the Console ID, but it's fairly painless and quick. The full instructions and some videos for the license transfer are found at www.xbox.com/drm.

What are the 4 bears in the Forest Kingdom of World of Keflings for?

Question

In the Forest Kingdom of World of Keflings you can find 4 bears on an island to the Southeast. I've been through the entire story and didn't run across a quest that calls for their use. They aren't considered a 'decoration' for a house. I've tried combining them into different patterns with no luck as well.

Does anyone know what they are used for?

Answer

Arrange the bears into a square to automatically make something bear-related

Here is the combination:

Top row:

Secret Bear, Covert Bear

Bottom row:

Enigmatic Bear, Discreet Bear

In Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is there any way to return to the home world?

Question

I'm attempting 100% completion and it looks like I missed a piece of artwork on the home world. Is there any way to return to the home world to collect it? If not, does the game have any new game plus type functionality to allow me to carry anything over between plays?

Answer

I don't believe there's any way to return to the home world. I think videos and concept art carry over if you start a new game, though I don't think the actual collectibles do.
