Compared to the N64 original, a little over double. The reason for this being the inclusion of the Master Quest, which was not originally available on the N64 version. Although it was released later as part of a special promotion. The world is mirrored in the 3DS version of Master Quest, but everything else is the same as the previously released version.

The only content which is 100% new is the boss challenge mode.

You can try using the Sun Song or Song of Storms here - often this means that there is a special sort of fairy present that can fill your life and your magic. You can't, however, keep these fairies in jars.

Usually something in the area determines what song you should play - since there is water present, the song of storms would be your best bet.

Where are the Fairy Fountains?

I am playing Ocarina of Time on the 3DS, and I vaguely recall there being a fairy fountain somewhat close to each dungeon/temple. Is that true?

There are quite a few fountains overall, so they're fairly scattered. You're correct that some are close to dungeons, however not all dungeons have a fountain close by (e.g Water Temple) and not all fountains are near dungeons (e.g Hyrule Field).

Rather than copy out text, there's a list of locations for Great Fairy Fountains here and ordinary Fairy Fountains here. This is for Ocarina of Time 3DS, but I don't know if any of the locations have changed since the N64 verson.

What do I do with all my beans?

I bought a bunch of magic beans from the guy sitting outside of Zora's Domain when you are a child. I could only find two locations to plant them (the one right near where he is sitting, and the one in the Kokiri Forest). I still have a few (I spent quite a bit of money on this, thinking they would be useful), but I don't know where else to put them.

Where else is there ground for planting beans?

There are a total of 10 locations to plant the magic beans as child Link, the majority of which will result in obtaining a piece of Heart as adult Link.

These should be the locations you haven't found yet:

1) 2 in Lost Woods: near the stage where you can entertain the deku scrubs and near the bridge to Hyrule field
2) 1 in the Graveyard
3) 2 in Death Mountain: 1 near the cavern entrance and 1 inside the Death Mountain crater
4) 1 beside the lab in Lake Hylia
5) 1 at the bottom of Gerudo Valley
6) 1 near the entrance to the Spirit Temple

If you need more details to their locations a quick Google search would reveal that I'm sure.

What's the point of Poes?

In Ocarina of Time, there are various places (as an adult) that Poes appear. You can fight and kill them, like any other enemy, but when they die, they leave behind a glowing "soul" type thing that you can put into a jar. Why would I bother? They don't appear to be really good for anything. Is there something I am missing here? What do I do with the souls?

From the Zelda wikia:

Once defeated, they drop their soul-housing lanterns, allowing Link to store the spirit of the Poe in an empty bottle and bring them to the Ghost Shop in Hyrule Castle Town where they can be sold for ten Rupees. Link is also able to drink the spirit of a Poe, although doing so usually causes negative effects.

As well, there are 10 Big Poes throughout the game:

The hunting and collecting of Big Poes is part of a side quest. ... Once a Big Poe appears, Link must hastily dispose of it with the Fairy Bow. Once one is defeated, its spirit can be stored inside one of Link's bottles and sold to the Ghost Keeper. The Ghost Keeper will give fifty rupees and one hundred points on Link's "card" for each Big Poe collected. Once Link has gathered all ten Big Poes in the game, his card will be maxed out with 1000 points. The Ghost Keeper tells him that now he has achieved true happiness, and gives him an empty bottle for his trouble.

Do Redeads stay dead?

In Ocarina of Time, in the Castle Town Market after you are an adult, the Redeads will jump on you and kill you if you don't either run or kill them.

When they die, they collapse on the ground, but unlike other Zelda enemies, they don't disappear. Does this mean they could potentially get back up and kill me?

I don't remember any of them getting up again, and according to strategywiki, the corpse remains because the other ReDeads will walk there instead of trying to follow link (I actually never waited long enough to observe that).

You can make life much easier with ReDeads by playing the Sun's Song when you enter a room with these fellows, since that causes them to freeze for a while.

What do I do with the giant spinning pot?

In Ocarina of Time, in Goron City, there is a giant pot with an angry looking face that is sitting on the bottom floor of the city. If you light up all of the torches in the area the pot is in, it begins to spin. Is there anything I can do to the pot? I tried throwing bombs in from above, but kept missing. Should I keep trying?

Yes, you should keep trying! I had a tough time getting a bomb in the first time I played as well. Spoilers from strategywiki.org:

After opening Darunia's house, light the four torches around the pot at the bottom of Goron City. From the second level, throw a Bomb Flower into the top of the spinning pot to stop it. It will stop showing one of three faces, depending on what time you threw the bomb flower in. Alternatively you can wait until after you get bombs from dodongo's cavern and use them instead. If the pot stops on 'happy', a Heart Piece will fly out.

How to catch the Hylian Loach fish in LoZ: Ocarina of Time

I remember spending hours trying to catch that big guy in that pond. How do you catch him and was there an optimal way to catch that lunker? What is his max size?
Also how big could the normal fish get to be?

According to Zelda Wiki:

The Hylian Loach is a large, rare fish that appears in both Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. The loach looks like a cross between the catfish and the pike, with an eel-like body and ornate swirl patterns down the length of its body. They generally weigh in at about 29-36 pounds and can only be found at the Fishing Holes in its respective game. Due to its rarity, the Hylian Loach is usually revered to be a legendary fish.

In Ocarina of Time, the loach appears purely by random at the fishing pond in Lake Hylia. The best way to find it is by equipping the Zora Tunic and the Iron Boots, and then entering the water and scanning the sand floor and the area around the lily pads. If it can't be found the first time, Link can just exit the area, enter again, and repeat the process. They can be caught with either the regular lure or the Sinking Lure, although the loach will only bite onto the hook as it goes up to the surface.

How do I get to Zora's Domain?

I am stuck on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on 3DS. I am at Lake Hylia and there appears to be a temple under the lake. From what the owl said and online guides I'm supposed to play Zelda's Lullaby somewhere but I've tried loads of places all around the lake and got nothing so far.

There is an island with a stone that says "When water fills the lake, shoot for the morning sun." I have tried shooting the slingshot between the two pillars, at the sun, and playing Zelda's Lullaby there.

I'm just baffled because there is zero clues as to what to do next...

The hint from the owl is to enter Zora's Domain. The entrance to the path to Zora's Domain is in Hyrule field near the entrance to Kakariko Village. Make your way to the end of the path where you will find the Triforce symbol he's referring to.

Just so you know, you can also go fishing in Lake Hylia. Also, when looking at your map subscreen the flashing dot is where to go next.
