How do my abilities level on the command board?

Question

In Birth By Sleep, at the end of each game on the Command Board Minigame, the abilities I've used gain experience. I've seen a number of places that say things to the effect of:

Playing your abilities on the board will earn you experience.

And even so far as:

You will draw cards not maxed out first. Always

And

If your opponent buys your space, that command will not gain experience.

But what actions will actually give me experience? Do I just need to play my card? Do I need to level it (the tile on the board, I mean)? Will I earn more experience if my opponents land on it? What actual event(s) trigger my gaining of experience and what factors dictate how much?

Answer

Leveling up your panel on the Command Board will increase the CP/EXP you get when the game ends. It is influenced by its value of the panel, or the price you paid for it (NOT what other players pay when they land on it). Press (Circle) on the panel to see the value. The placement of the panels matter as well.

Example

If you land on a Command Panel (not a Bonus Panel [no star]) that costs 300BP and set a LVL1 Command on it, the value of the panel will bw 300BP, the cost to your opponents that land on the tile will be ~50BP.

If you level it up to LVL5 by paying 2000BP, now your panel with LVL1 Command is worth 2300BP, cost to land on the panel will be ~1000BP)

If you purchase two or more panels adjacent to each other with a card of the same type (they will be the same color: magic cards, attack cards, crown cards, etc.), they will form a chain and increase each other's value by 10%.

When you finish the board game, that LV1 Command will receive CP/EXP proportional to its value (in other words, you won't won't get exactly 2300CP if the value of the panel is 2300BP). You will get a bonus to CP/EXP if you come in first place as well.

You can buy an opponent's panel by paying five times the value of the land. If you do, you will gain w/e commands are set to that panel.

Is there any advantages to playing Birth By Sleep in any particular order?

Question

So I've already started playing through the game and beat Aqua's segment, but I was curious about this: Are there any advantages (story-wise, overall experience with the game, etc.) to playing Birth By Sleep in a particular order?

Asked by Ktash

Answer

As I'm aware there is no advantage to completing one before the other (no special moves, areas, items unlocked). It's simply a matter of how you would like to experience the story.

If you want a fairly straightforward approach/unfolding of the story, I recommend playing all the way through as Terra, then Ventus, then Aqua. I also recommend you play on Proud Mode if you want to unlock the extra content as it's the easiest difficulty that doesn't require lots of grinding on minigames. This method also ensures you will simply learn each character as you go.

You could also try to have a separate file for each character and continually jump from character to character as you complete each world. The reasoning for this would be if you wanted to see the entire story in chronological order though it may simply be more confusing, story-wise and especially gameplay-wise. I have yet to try it myself but it would require a timeline to execute correctly.

What is the order of arrivals at each world in Birth By Sleep?

Question

In Birth by Sleep, what is the order of character arrivals at each world? By that I mean, at each world, who arrives first, who arrives second, and who arrives third?

Asked by Ktash

Answer

I've listed the worlds in the order they get visited (according to the Trinity Archives timeline) then listed the order of visitors next to it. There is some overlap but I couldn't think of a simple way to show that. I've also listed names more than once on some worlds since they are visited multiple times in the course of the story.

Land of Departure - All, Ventus, Terra

Enchanted Dominion - Terra, Ventus, Aqua

Dwarf Woodlands - Terra, Ventus, Aqua

Castle of Dreams - Ventus, Terra, Aqua

The Mysterious Tower - Terra, Ventus, Aqua

The Badlands - Terra, Ventus, Terra

Radiant Garden - Ventus, Terra, Aqua

Disney Town - Ventus, Terra, Aqua

Olympus Coliseum - Ventus, Terra, Aqua

Deep Space - Terra, Aqua, Ventus

Never Land - Ventus, Terra, Aqua

Destiny Islands - Terra, Aqua, Ventus

The Keyblade Graveyard - All
