Question
Some 4-5 years back I played a "hide and seek" sort of game but dont know it's name. It was a simple flash game. On screen 3 baskets are shown and the Computer puts an item in one of those three baskets. The basekets are swapped randomly, and after some amount of time the player is asked to click the basket where the object was.
As you clear more levels the speed of the basket is increased. Can someone please tell me the name of this game?
Answer
This is a pretty common game that's been around for a very, very long time. It's called the "shell game." A quick google search for "shell game flash" came up with tons of results for games like this. Wikipedia says that this game dates back at least 400-500 years, and may be thousands of years old.
Unless there's something very specific about the game you played that made it more fun than others, you're probably best served just playing one of the more common implementations.
Another variant on this game is "3 card Monte" which is a common con artist moneymaker.
One of the more famous 'trick' shell games is the "cup and balls" sleight of hand demonstration. Penn and Teller do a very interesting version, which they performed for scientists and brain researchers as part of Nova Science Now in 2011. I can't link to the specific timecode in the video, but if you jump to about 9:45, you can watch them demonstrate.
