Question
I was just wondering how you create a guild in Guild Wars 2?
Beta weekend starts tomorrow and I am going to need to create our guild, but I have not seen anything about how to create one in GW2.
What are the requirements?
Where do I go?
Do I need currency?
Do I need people to sign a charter?
Any other details would be great.
Answer
As of the most recent press beta event, which was in late March of 2012, you did not need currency, a charter, or to go to a special area.
As of then, all you needed to do was open the Guild window (G by default) after loading in from character creation, choose a name and guild tag (abbreviation) and that's it.
On Guilds and Guild Creation
How easy is it to create a Guild in Guild Wars 2? In the beta at least it was merely a matter of clicking the 'Create Guild' button in the Guild interface. I choose a name (randomly and apparently forgettably), chose an abbreviation, and I was in a Guild. I didn't need any other players, and it didn't cost me a dime. That might change in release; otherwise the game will be flooded one ineffectual one-person organizations.
As for Guild organization, the sequel maintains the same Guild Leader-Officer-Member hierarchy from the first game.
As the press article states, note that this is not final and in fact, may be changed for the BWE for April 27th. The article I linked is the source article for the information about Guilds on the current official Guild Wars 2 wiki article.
