Question
Platform: Windows 95, came on a CD
Genre: Sports, Action
Year: 1996
Perspective: Third-person 3D
Art: Very polygonal, arena was mostly grey, other colors (players etc.) were mostly bright blue, red, and yellow
Protagonist: You controlled players on the team
Goal: Score, incapacitate other players
Enemies: Other players
Weapons/Equipment: Your stick (similar to hockey), powerups that grant you murder-aiding abilities
Multiplayer: Could play two player splitscreen, one controlling each team
Memorable Moments: It reminds me strongly of Rollerball (the game in the movie of the same name, not the NES pinball game). It was in an arena shaped like a large skate bowl. The parts most like Rollerball were that it was futuristic and violent; I believe the sticks were pointed, you either had rollerblades or some sort of futuristic energy skates. There were obstacles in the arena that you had to avoid and you could jump over them.
Answer
While writing this question I googled "futuristic violent hockey game" and HyperBlade was the third result. It's great how writing these things down triggers better memories and wording for searches; thanks Gaming!
According to the Wikipedia article the egg-shaped arena was called a "drome" and the sticks were actually blades called "jaks", with the ball ("rok") carried in a glove in the other hand. Obstacles include turnstiles and laser gates that presumably cut you in half. Powerups are weapons like mines and the ability to charge up the rok into a "killball" to throw at and electrocute other players.
