Trying to find a PC game from the 90's

Question

A long time ago when I used to go to the library with my parents I would kill time playing this PC game in the lab. I've tried to find it before but was unsuccessful. Here's a description, hopefully someone can help me.

The game starred you as a male figure and I believe the cover for the game was you with a castle and landscape in the background (but don't quote me on that). It was 2D with an angled top down view. I can't remember if you clicked to move around, but for some reason that sounds right. I don't really remember much about what you did in the game, but I know you could fight stuff and one area sticks out in my mind that might help someone find it. There was a gingerbread [looking] house and I believe there was a witch inside/outside. The game probably came out early-mid 90's, but since it's a library who knows how old their games were, maybe it could have been late 80's. Genre is most likely hack-and-slash or rpg.

I wish I had more to give out, but I don't really remember much. I've wanted to know what this game was for years now, but I just can't seem to find a definitive match. I thought maybe it was a game called King's Quest, but I can't seem to find a screenshot that looks familiar...

Answer

is
That
or
That

If yes, this is King's Quest.
