Question
I have a very strong yet vague memory of this game. A friend of mine had it, and I envied her so much for it. I'm pretty sure it was SNES, but could have been early SEGA. To risk a date I would say 1994-95, approximately. It had sort of a space invaders dynamic, but it looked way better (the background moved smoothly). It had light colors, like pinks or blues (at least in the levels I remember), and (I know this will sound like a million games) when you killed enemies they dropped powers that made you do things like shoot double or triple lines, have a shield or things like that. I think (it's coming to my mind just now) that you could see cities in the background (not sure), and there were round clouds floating around. I also remember (quite sure) that the "powers" you got changed your spaceship, so it looked different, it got bigger. Ufff I know it's not much, but it'd be great to finally have that game myself :)
I remember this to be a very polished game for that time, very pretty (that's why it think it could have been SEGA instead of SNES). Thank you so much for your help.
Answer
What you describe sounds like a vertical shooter, and vertical shooter plus pink and blue colors automatically leads me to think about TwinBee.
There are quite a few TwinBee games (see the bottom of the wikipedia page) and some to match the timeframe. The games also feature quite a few of the things you remember. Here are a couple of images:
And here's a gameplay video:
Note that the gameplay video is from the original TwinBee for the NES, while the screenshots are probably from Pop'n TwinBee.
