Halo Reach Credits custom games

Question

I was at a LAN party at one of my friends house last night where we played 50+ custom game matches. Mainly Infection. After every matches was over, me and only one of my other buddies got only 50 or less credits. While the other 7 people in the group got 100 - 1000 credits every match. I was top player on several occasions and still only got 50 or less credits. I even had more medals in a few matches compared to my friends that were getting more points. I figure there may be a glitch because me and the one other buddy were on a separate hub than the rest of the group, but we still played the matches just fine.

Why was I not receiving 100-1000 credits like everyone else?

Answer

This is only a theory, but were the ones that were getting reduced credits xbox live profiles?

If a profile is an online one (AKA a gold subscription I believe) then they work on a different credit scale than that of an offline account. This is done so that offline accounts can experience all the joys of the armory easier, and online accounts can't abuse offline play to max out credits easy.

This is what I'm basing this theory on:

On a similar note, I’ve been seeing some chatter about the prospect of mass quantity credit dumps that can be earned through offline play in various game modes. Some of the laziest among us are no doubt already plotting out their path of least resistance, thinking of ingenious new ways to rubber band a controller to achieve a Zen like state of ridiculous effortlessness.

Not so fast. When you escort your offline profile into the wonderful world of Xbox LIVE, our servers will identify your newly connected status and instantly notify you that our online credit scale operates on a completely different level. (That fizzle sound you’re hearing is probably your boosters running out of fuel in an oxygen starved environment. Don’t look down, RocketMan.)

If you choose to remain offline with your decked out profile, you get to keep your ducats and your duds with no questions asked. But should you opt to take this party online, your credits will be reduced significantly and any Armory items that you had previously earned (for which you no longer meet the minimum online credit or rank requirements) will be righteously revoked.

Of course, the credit reduction that occurs when you make the move into cyberspace is completely by design. For players without a connection to the outside world, the system is simply accelerating the credits being awarded to allow them to experience the Armory at a realistically achievable (but decidedly lonely) offline pace. For those who opt for a more social experience, the grind is a little more protracted, but still profoundly fun.

How can I get the Steam overlay on Skyrim, if I am using the SKSE.exe to launch the game?

Question

I am playing Skyrim modded, and would like to have the Steam overlay in the game, so that I can chat with users and such.

I have purchased the game and activated it in Steam, but since I am launching through SKSE.exe, I cannot launch it through Steam. Or, is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

Asked by gameaddict

Answer

On the bottom left of steam there is a button that says 'Add a game' simply click that, select 'none Steam game' and find the 'SKSE.exe' which should be in your root Skyrim directory. Name it whatever you'd like, doesn't matter. When you launch it via Steam it will start Skyrim using SKSE. However all the steam stats will be added to the official Skyrim game in Steam. So everything works as it should!

Changing game AI for Civilization 4

Question

I read that the auto-worker functionality in Civilization 4 doesn't really work very well - he keeps building farms as opposed to towns and other objects. Since I'm still pretty new to this (and don't play many strategy games except for those similar to Age of Empires, which is pretty simple and straightforward), I went about thinking of the best way to learn this game.

One thing I thought of to do is use an automated worker to do a lot of things while I try to understand what other elements I can control. Does anyone know whether or not there is an AI that I can use for the auto-worker to improve his behavior? I know that we download and install custom scripts at least in Age of Empires.

Answer

As far as I know, no mod changes with the auto worker pattern. This is mostly because you need to specialize cities, which means that one size does not fit all. You also have to co-ordinate with the terrain you settle on. Workers, and city planning are some of the hardest parts of the game.

Take a look at these guides at civfanatics.

Your basic plan for early game is to have 2 or 3 production cities, with lots of food and hammers, as well as 3-5 commerce cities, with cottages. You don't want cottages in your production cities radius, but you can have a mine in your commerce city, so that you can build things like libraries, banks, or other money or science boosting building.

Is it possible to unlock more champions for bots in LoL custom games?

Question

Currently, when I create a custom game in League of Legends and add bots, I can only select the following champions : Annie, Sivir, Soraka, Nasus, Malphite, Shen, Master Yi.

Is there a way to unlock more champions in custom game mode ?

Answer

No, at the moment you can only use the ones you mentioned. The only thing you can do is choose wisely between them. RIOT really tries to encourage people to play against other people and not vs AI.

Can I choose the lane on which bots go when playing a LoL custom game?

Question

When playing a League of Legends custom game, whatever the champions I may select in my team, I always end with :

  • two bots going on the bottom lane
  • one bot going on the middle lane
  • one bot going on the top lane

Beside the complete lack of sense in some choices (Shen in middle lane is quite common), this forces me to play as a jungler or go on the top lane.

Is there a way to change the lane used by the bots, to allow me to practice playing in the middle lane for exemple (or play on the bottom lane with a support) ?

Answer

No you can't. It is a part of bot AI and they choose on their own where to go.

On the other side, you won't gain much by playing on your own against bots (except if you want to practise jungling - this way noone will touch you). You will only learn basics about the skill set of the champion you're playing and you will learn bot AI patterns which won't help you when you start playing against real players. You will have to apply different tactics against humans and learn when to activate champion skills based on how humans react. If you really want to play against bots, why not play Players vs. AI?
